Sorry I haven't posted in so long, I honestly forgot how to get to

this page, but something jogged my memory today and here I am.

I had my surgery LAP RNY on October 3 (finally)!!!! My original

surgery date was 7/30 and I went through half of the surgery!!!! The

surgeon got three holes in me and decided he didn't like the way my

liver looked so he STOPPED!!!! I was not a happy camper when I awoke

from the anesthesia, I can tell you that!!! The surgeon was just

being very cautious so I can't be that angry (I guess). He sent me

to a GI specialist and I was cleared. I have been followed with high

liver enzymes by my PCP for ten years. He felt I just had a fatty

liver. The numbers never changed in all those years and my PCP (who

also had laprny in January) told me to go for it. He was so mad when

the surgeon called him and told him he stopped the surgery. My dr

said he wanted to scream at him: YOU PUT HER BACK ON THAT TABLE

IMMEDIATELY!!! Well that's all in my past. I feel really good!!

WEnt back to work after one week. Could have gone back sooner, but

the surgeon had to do some extra scraping cuz it turned out I had

some scaring probly from a case of diverticulitis years ago. I had

two drains when I awoke and was really really sore for a full week.

I did great in the hospital. All went smoothly. All my concerns were

really for nothing. THe only thing I hated was having to call the

nurses a million times to unhook the leg wraps I had to wear so I

could go to the bathroom!!! The nurses kept yelling at me to " stop

throwing myself out of the bed " !!!! My intestinal and urinary tract

all started working as they should, the leak test was nothing!! I

went to the x-ray machine and simply stood there drinking a small

amount of rather tastey barium and the xray machine did all

themoving. Couldn't believe it! I was out of the hospital in less

than 50 hours total!!!! All is going very well. I recognize the

feeling of fullness and stop. Have had no vomiting or nausea. I am

having some emotional problems regarding getting over looking forward

to my next big meal, but I'm dealing with it. The one mistake I did

make was on day post 13 when I felt really good and went dancing!!!

BIG MISTAKE!!! I was okay for 24 hours and then last Friday night I

was walking around downtown Ft. Laud and wound up doubled over in

pain several times. It was shooting up to a " 9 " !!! My DH suggested

I take it very easy for the weekend and am feeling better today.

There is a reason why drs don't want us exercising for six weeks and

I learned it the hard way. Talked to my surgeon at support group and

he told me that I didn't hurt the surgery, I just hurt muscles.

Thank Goodness!!! Now I'm just trying to get used to getting all the

food and protein into me. It's a balancing act. Protein is

EXTREMELY important for us. I understand that comes first. Well,

that's it for now, THE JOURNEY CONTINUES!!!
