I'm the one doing all the studying and doing all the proper cooking and

encouraging him to cut his portions, etc. I think that we are both

adults and I wouldn't like being harped on, so I won't harp on him. I

don't think that makes for a good marriage (going on 29 years). If all

that makes me an enabler, so be it.

My apologies to you. I do not think that not harping on someone in

order to honor them as an adult, while expecting them to be

responsible for their own actions, qualifies as an enabler.

My mother was--out of her love, she made excuses for me which allowed

me to continue in my bad habits, which eventually included self-

destructive food and substance abuse. I think I have by now matured

out of it, I hope. Sorry that I read too much into your situation.
