Guest guest Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Hi ! I am 3 weeks post-op and am pleased to say that I have lost 35 pounds to date! I am having a tough time getting all my 60 grams of protein in every day as I just do not have an appitite or thurst. What I have tried is a protein available from Wal-Mart as well as some other protein powder called Unjury. You can also go online and try " Nectar " which is a 20 gram each protein powder in Ice tea - Lemondade and Fuzzy Navel flavors. These are available from Bariatriceating.com. I got the variety pack to try the different flavors to see which one I liked the best which happens to be the Lemonade flavor. It is so easy to do. I went to Walmart and got myself a personal sized blender to mix my drinks. It has a snap on top that lets you take the whole container with you during the day so I sip my protein drink at my leisure. If I do 3 of these a day I get all my required protein for the day. The powders I got at Walmart are GREAT! I got the vanilla and the chocolate flavors. I use Eddie's low fat/ sugar free vanilla ice cream and put some in my blender - add a bit of 1% milk and a scoop of the Vanilla protein powder and mix. WOW! It is SOOOO refreshing to have these shakes. You get 20 grams of protein per shake and it is as good as getting a milk shake at Dairy Queen. Sometimes I put a 2 " piece of banana in the blender to make it a banana shake...YUM! Hope these ideas help you! Good luck! Bev s - Oley, PA pre-op weight 346 3 weeks post op - 311 Quote
Guest guest Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I used a lot of the lipton chicken noodle soup, just strained the noodles out and drank the broth, it was quite filling for me and 1 box was enough for 4 meals. Sugar-free jello and pudding. Sugar Free tang and crystal lite was and is my drink of choice. I also had sugar free popsicles and also drank or ate cream of chicken soup. That was more filling for my pouch in the second week of the liquid diet that my doc's had me on. I only had to do 2 weeks of liquid and then 2 weeks of pureed foods. Hope this helps. I have just come home from the doctor. My pre-op appointment is scheduled for Monday July 17 and my surgery is to take palce on Wednesday July 19. Doc says I will be in hospital for two nights and go home on Friday if all is well. I am nervous and scared. What do I need to purchase to begin the liquid protein portion of my recovery. sounds like there are many choices. I am paying out of pocket so anything that is on the less expensive side will be helpful. Watching the days and coutning the hours. (pre 248) Quote
