Guest guest
I had this too at the beginning. It eventually stopped, but in the meantime, you can use baking soda to brush your teeth (either plain one or twice a week or in a toothpaste) and go for more frequent cleanings from your dentist. It all came off with my first cleaning, and was very minor after that. I talked to my dentist about it, she said it probably would be easier to control after the first cleaning, and she was right. She said the best thing to do was to stay ahead of it: if I saw it coming back, make an early cleaning appointment. But after the first cleaning after starting minocin, I didn't have much staining, and considered it an indication of how well I was doing with flossing and brushing. I might guess that a good electric toothbrush could prevent it entirely. Also in line with 's recommendation, if you have staining accumulated now, I'd make an appointment for a cleaning soon, the less it builds up the easier it will be to remove, and shouldn't be much of a problem after the first cleaning. Guest guest
Hi I have been on Minocin for 3+ years, and after about 2 years I noticed one tooth was turning yellow. I do not smoke, drink coffee, or soda. I may drink the occasional cup of green tea (twice a week). The stain was coming from inside the tooth in my case. I cannot remember ever bumping it or damaging it in any way although my dentist said that it came from damaging the nerve. When looking for information regarding staining of the teeth, I did not find anything on 'tetracycline' drugs staining adult teeth, however, I do not think studies have been done on long-term use either. I did a little research and found a bleaching system online. It was only 60 bucks and I got eight (8) syringes full of this really good stuff. I think it is called Night White or something. I can't remember where I bought it right now, but I could look it up if you are interested. I know most people on this site do not advocate using bleaching systems. And it is probably not so good for my body, but I figure with my healthy vegetarian diet plus juicing once a day, I can take it short-term. Especially when I think of all the poisons I have dumped into my body since birth until last year. Aside from getting a $550 veneer on that very visible tooth, I did not have any other option. Anyhow, it worked for me. I am glad most people did not have this problem and that theirs was easily cleaned off by a dentist. I just wanted to post this option just in case there is someone out there for whom that does not work. Best wishes to all! Mel rheumatic Minocycline/Teeth staining I started the protocol at the beginning of April and have noticed the development of black stains in between and at the gumline of my teeth. Has anyone else experienced these side effects? If so, how did you remedy them? Cheers. Guest guest
Hi, and group! Sally here-my teeth were staining and still do since beg. of my AP in 12-'99. I DID NOT want to go to dentist every 3 mos, NOR did I want to pay $600 for dentist to bleach my teeth (both suggested by my wonderful but expensive dentist in the DC area). So, I went to the local drugstore and happened upon " Opti-White " , which works superbly for me-I just get my teeth cleaned once a year now and have noticed on AP, I seldom have a cavity. Another plus!! One caveat-Opti-White comes with upper and lower trays and I found those cumbersome, so I bought another cheap bleaching kit for the whole mouth tray. Plus, I only bleach once every week or so, now, for about 20 minutes, vs the 40 minutes or so recommended (I think) on the package. Good health! Guest guest
Hi All, Here is what works for me...good old H2O2.After brushing my teeth I take a big swig of peroxide and swish for at least 5 minutes while I wash up and do my hair.It is also a very good facial exercise and does wonders for a face that is starting to sag.
