Guest guest
I had open RNY at Richmond, and I was back to work in 4 weeks. I was still a little sore but did fine. Guest guest
Hi Patty, Sorry I can't answer your question about returning to work. But . . . I do want to say congrats on getting your approval. I was fortunate enough that my sister came down from Alaska to stay with me. She did a great job of prodding me to walk enough. But I do think that I could have taken care of myself after surgery. I look forward to hearing more from you as you progress. All the best, Kay in San Leandro open RNY 12/1/03 prpjam wrote: > > Hi! Guest guest
Hi Patty, congratulations on getting approved! I think you will definitely want some help at least for a week or two after surgery. If you’re having it done laparascopically and you have a smooth recovery, you can probably go back to work full-time within 4-6 weeks. I stayed out for 8 weeks (I really felt fine after 4, but I wanted to take advantage of having some extra time off). I know some people have gone back to work even sooner. A lot of it just depends on your pain tolerance and how well you recuperate. You will get tired pretty easily for the first 3 or 4 weeks. Have you ever had any other surgeries that you can gauge how well you recuperated from them? If so, that may be a good barometer for how well you recuperate after this surgery. I had both a gall bladder removal (laparascopic) and a c-section (open, of course) prior to wls and I recovered very easily from both of those so I figured I’d have it pretty easy after wls and I did. Everyone’s experience is unique, however, based on your personal situation. - Lesa - How soon do people start going back to work after surgery? Hi! I have been reading the listserv for a while.
