I do the same exact thing.Mine started after I was overdosed on like 3

antibiotics, so I just contributed that to it.I don't do it very much

anymore, but it still happens.

Hi,

I could be in the middle of a sentence and forget what I was talking about,

just like that. I'll lose my whole train of thought. Talk about being

embarrassed, especially in front of strangers on the telephone talking

business. Sometimes there's a word I can't think of, not a difficult word,

something like " window " or 'dog' everyday words. It's so frustrating at

times, I just feel like crying.

I have three grown daughters and there are times I'll look right at one of

them and forget their name for an instant. It can be very scary.

When my husband and I go to a party or something and there are people I don't

know very well, I withdrawal and become very quiet. I would never do this

before, I was usually the BIG mouth at all the get togethers. When my

husband's company had their Christmas party there were a lot of new

employees, the next work day they told my husband I was really a quiet

person. He said he just smiled to thought to himself, you should live with

her.'

I think chiari changes our whole personality, I know it did mine.

Don't you hate when someone says the word your trying to think of? God, it

makes me feel so stupid. Don't feel alone with this problem, I'm right with

you.

It is so hard to be professional at work when your words slur, or you

sound muffled or mumble-ish and you top it off with brain-farts and

go erhhh ummmmm until you finally remnember what you were

slurring...lol

i hate this brain thing

I have one better. I will say the completely wrong word with the

confidence as if I said the one I meant to say. For example, I will

say to my daughter go and get your drink on. I meant to say go get

your coat on. Gets frustrating sometimes. Hubby just corrects me

now.

You two are describing me perfectly!!!!

English is my second language and before knowing about Chiari I was

convinced stress made me forget English so I would slur, forget or say it

all wrong with confidence......I started pointing it out to close people and

they pretended they did not see it ......

Now I know it is stress related but it has nothing to do with Spanish being

my first language ...it's all because of my dear Italian friend ....Chiari!

Hugs and thank you for talking straight

I completely related to everything thats been said about the speech and

memory. I get so frustrated when I try to speak and I say things that make

no sense, or can't find the right word....and sometimes cant find any word at

all...I just go blank. And like most of you, I felt I used to be pretty

intelligent...which is the most frustrating of all this....I feel stupid. I

know Im not, I know its this chiari...but I still cant help the feeling, ya

know? I am glad to hear that a lot of you have children that help you. Mine

seem to be the same way a lot of doctors are with us lol......they get tired

of my " brain thing " causing them inconveniences. They think I use it as an

excuse to be lazy lol........I wish!

Thanks for listening and hope all of you are having a bright, shining

cognitively healthy day!:)

Hi,

My younger girls 13,16,17 are noy helpful and think

I should be capable of more. They can be compassionate

at times but if they want me to drive somewhere or

take them shopping and I'm not up to it they can be

mean. But that's on them.I have to know my limitations.

My eldest daughter helps me with everything and she

is married and has 2 babies to care for. will

drop everything and run for me.

My 9 yr old son is sweet too.But those teens of

mine, boy can they make me feel bad. They do help me if

we are out.If I " stall " in speech or get lost in the

store like you know wander from aisle to aisle not

sure what I'm looking for. They will direct me.I just

hate going out anymore.I'm afraid to drive.I've lost

my confidence. It's great to come here and know I'm not

losing my mind.

Gentle hugs,

Lee
