Guest guest
" I got the sage delayed food sensitivity test back a month ago that caused me to eliminate some of his scd foods that restricted him diet even more making it hard to find a suitable foods to without eating exactly the same things all the time. eggs, tomatoes, cauliflower, greenbeans, soy, pineapple, etc showed up on his sage test. " Diane, I looked back and it seems that you started SCD back in March. If you got the results back a month ago, my guess is that the lab was drawn toward the beginning of June since it usually takes about 3 weeks to get lab results of that type. At that point he would have been on SCD for about 3 full months, right? Three months time is more than likely not enough time to completely heal the leaky gut problem and delayed sensitivities tests will pick up the most commonly eaten foods and report them as allergies if there are still leaky gut issues. Were you seeing obvious reactions to some foods? What made you decide to run the SAGE test? Remind me how you started the diet (intro or not). At the point in time the tests were drawn, what had he been eating? Did you slowly add foods and only feed him things that did not give him problems? Or was it just impossible to figure out what he could and could not tolerate? I would go back to the intro diet (or as close as you possibly can) and begin to reintroduce foods slowly and watch for reactions, both physical and behavioral. Keep a food chart to track reactions. Guest guest
Hi, I am answering you on this because we did SCD for 3 months and then the next month I added in some rice, soy, and potato. The major difference I saw was my daughters stools being full of undigested foods vs. the normal brown color. Her behavior was about the same. I think she was also in a lot more stomach pain as well. We are back on now for 2 months and going through a die-off so she has been difficult lately but I think getting through the first 3 months is the most difficult. We also did the SAGE last July (Dr. Bradstreet's recommendation) and she also showed 26 items. Many I can keep out, but some I cannot since it showed chicken and beef. I am doing SCD and keeping out the rest though. You may also be able to use enzymes and give some of those foods. We are doing SCD without dairy, low salicylate, no apples, pineapple, orange, banana, and basically the only fruits I use are mango, pomegranate, pear, and papaya. She also showed up tomato on her SAGE but it is her favorite food so I only use tomato juice. She tolerates o.k. She will tolerate a little avocado as well. Good luck. Just an FYI for newbies, although most of these foods are SCD legal " eggs, tomatoes, cauliflower, greenbeans, soy, pineapple " soy is not an SCD legal food. > I am going back to strict > scd to verify that non-scd is the problem and probably stay there. It sounds like he did much better when strict SCD. I expect that when he is back on SCD (ie. no rice or GF pancakes) that his regression will disappear. Why did the DAN dr. suggest rice or GF pancakes (both SCD illegal) if he was doing so well on SCD? Guest guest
>>>They told me they thought it was because of the potato flour in the mix and still advised me to try just rice with the carbo enzymes. How much carbo was given with this? It might not have been enough OR the timing might have been off. Did you open capsules or swallow them ahead of eating? It is good to test one ingredient at a time (such as rice versus potato) although I would think potato would be much more digestible than rice. And what were the specialists trying to determine by either of these ingredients if your son had been fine otherwise? .
