Guest guest
I read this morning that Teflon is making people sick. I am not going to use that kind of cookkware any more > Teflon constituents have found their way into rivers, soil, wild animals > and humans, according to company, government environmental officials and > others. Guest guest
I tossed all my Teflon (even my waffle iron!!) about six months ago. I was spoiled.... and I miss it...... but you do get used to stainless. It's more of a hassle.... you have to get the temperature just right (but if you do, even eggs don't stick) and yes, I spend more time scrubbing than before but after I saw the expose on TV..... it was either on 60 Minutes or Dateline NBC ...... I couldn't let the Teflon stay in the house one more minute! And I had just bought one of the pans about two weeks before! I know we can't avoid all the toxins on this planet..... but gee whiz, I'm going to avoid all I can. Patti, mom to Katera, SCD 14 months and Teflon free. Re: Teflon (OT) This has been a concern for me. Does anyone have info on what to use? I had the stainless (not sure of the spelling) steel but everything would stick to the bottom and you had to use a lot of oil to cook anything in the pan. Thanks. Guest guest
Just go to www.google.com and put " teflon dangers " into the search box. One of the first ones that will come up is from ABC news, from the show I saw...... it was actually on 20/20 within the past year. Just gave my calphalon to a neighbor (I was worried about the aluminum within the coating). I soak my pans on the stove for a while to loosen up food. Another trick is to put baking soda in the pan with water. Turn the heat up to simmer. The little bubbles of baking soda lift the stuck on food. Then it rinses off in the water!
