No results with SCD, do we go back to GFCFSF where we also didn't see

much noted improvement??? I don't know what I am supposed to see

while doing SCD with my nonverbal child? How long is it recommended

to try w/o results? I am not officially on the diet yet until school

starts when her new school will eliminate popcorn as a reinforcer.

She doesn't have many food intolerances and has been on sulfasalazine

for constipation for two years. She cannot describe any pain. And has

different bowel movements but I don't always " see " them. So how do I

rate whether this is working? Less stimming would be all that I can

note. I am willing to try it; I just want to know what I am looking

for. She is a very happy child that can't talk. Monthly problems with

night wakings. Lots of verbal stimming but otherwise happy child.

Welcome ,

Some things to look for (according to what you have written) would

be changes in sleeping patterns, changes in frequency of bowel

movements, changes in stool colour, changes in stimming, talking

etc. These are just a few of the changes that parents have noted

with their children while doing SCD. If your child had constipation

as opposed to D we can give specific recommendations to you once you

are 100% SCD.

I would suggest committing to at least six months. I think any less than that

would not give the diet a fair shot. There is a lot of fine tuning we can help

with along the way.

Thank you for your reply, SHeila, I was not aware that things were

different for constipation. Very thrilled that there are so many

nice happy people on this board; the support is very encouraging.
