Hi,

we have been doing an ABA lovaas style programme for a year, we made little

progress we have now changed to verbal behaviour type programme and we are

making excellent progress daily. Try visiting local parents doing different

interventions to see which one will be best for your son

> Also, we are supposed to start DMSA in a few weeks. Were there

bad side effects?

We started two weekends ago and saw no side effects. I was so relieved.

> We are planning on starting the " Listening Program " with a no

certified OT? Has anyone benefited from using this program?

Our listening program is called Samonas. We are 8 weeks into it. I

am not sure if it is helping, but we will keep going because two

parents I know say it helped their boys greatly. Our DAN doctor said

it helped her daughter as well. It is expensive, but easy to do.

Hi Michal,

> We've been on the diet since the beginning of May.

Did you do the intro diet? what foods are you giving? As far as I understand

our " goal " is

to have 1 nicely formed brown stool that sinks to the bottom every day. Perhaps

you

should back up a little and give more time to heal.

> Also, we are supposed to start DMSA in a few weeks.

Have you checked if he has problems with yeast? The " hairy " stools could be

telling you

there's a problem there and you do not want to give the bad bugs DMSA which they

crave

and thrive upon. I just started dmsa yesterday after we got all the OAT levels

down to

normal and she'll continue to take nystatin in the off days and we're keeping

the menus

quite simple. No bad reaction yet, but hope is high! ;-)

we are strongly considering pulling our son out to put him in an ABA program.

We are doing the full 40hr per week Lovaas replica center clinic based ABA and

are thrilled

with the results. In 18 months we've gained 42 IQ points and got her language

skills up to

age level. Today our little girl is funny (actually makes jokes), asks

questions, has

opinions and actually has verbal arguments with her sister! All this said, I

believe deep

down that in our story Lovaas therapy supports diet and supplements. And you do

have to

have a good motivated team that KNOWS what they are doing to avoid any waste of

time.

Her program is absolutely personalized and intends to cover every milestone she

should

have done by now.

Her therapy time is great fun and work and she likes it, but she was already

receptive to

begin with and that came when we attacked the main health issues she had.

I don't know much about services available in the US but I'd look at

www.lovaas.com to

look for certified therapists that have already supervised experience with a

number of kids

at both ends of the spectrum.

Good luck

Hi Michal,

Can you give us an idea of what you son eats most days. If you start

keeping a food journal that may help you pinpoint any possible

problems.

had this problem for a long time. Eventually I found the

culprit - raisins. He'd have furry stools on the days that he ate a

lot of raisins.

> We've been on the diet since the beginning of May. We have had our

ups and downs. Whenever, we started a new supplement or had to give

antibiotics for an infection, his stools changed. Now we are seeing

pretty good stools again but we have the same story every day. He

starts out making beautiful shaped stools morning, afternoon, and by

the evening, the stools don't look good anymore. (He goes 1-4 times

a day). Has anyone experienced this? The last stools comes out

quickly with a lot of gas and it's not really diahrrea but it's very

soft adn broken up. It has kind of a " hairy/fuzzy " look to it (sorry

I'm being so graphic).
