Am I the only one who loves getting up with babies?

With my first, I nursed, so I got up with her each time for 6

months. (Sure was tired at that point though!) Anyway,

I have always loved feeding and rocking a baby when it's

quiet and dark and it's just the two of us. And in the

winter, that first morning feeding wrapped up in a blanket

together, in the rocking chair - I think it's close to

heaven.

I am so happy for the 3 of you. Our prayers must have been felt b/c

I know you had many people praying for you.

You are right God is the one who deserves all the credit but you my

dear also deserve some credit for loving little Duncan enough to go

through the fear of having to possibly give him back and look it

right in the face and fight it.

You are an amazing woman and Duncan is very blessed to have you and

Art as his parents.

aww that is sweet i can just remember being exhausted and walking in my

sleep but i had to work so i couldnt ever get caught up on my sleep . i was

sooo tired.. but it was all worth it

When callie was born my husband was in Scotland and didn't get to come home

until she was 7 months old. Those were the BEST 7 months! Shortly after she

met him, she bacme a Daddy's girl.... but it was always me that did the

feeding. Once I figured out that i didn't have to wake her up to eat, that she

would let me know when it was feeding time, it was wonderful.

To this day I still say she is MY daughter not OUR daughter (but he does the

same thing)

I always loved getting up with my babies, too. The only time it was

really hard was when I was really feeling sleep deprived, but that takes

quite a bit. My little guy still wakes up sometimes at night to nurse, I

bring him in our bed where he's snuggled between us, so relaxed and

content

We had church tonight he had his batman pajamas on with the little cape

velcroed on (he's 13 months old and been walking for a few weeks now) and

he was toddling around while we watched a video. He walked all around for

a good half hour, then got a bit fussy so I took him in back and nursed

him for a few minutes. He conked right out and that little face looked so

sweet. As I was carrying him out, one man who had been smiling at his

antics earlier says " I see Batman's super powers have run

out " He's getting so big, makes me think about another!

You really are mean - how could you not have put a hint in the

subject line to show us the news were good this time? I too opened

the email in trepidation (what a lovely word) but was so happy to

read the excellent news .

I don't pray, but I guess the good thoughts I was thinking about you

DID work .

A good friend of mine, who lives in San Francisco now (originally

from Israel) called me the other day and told me she and her husband

had received a baby girl - only 2 months after signing up for

adoption! Theirs is an open adoption too, if I understand correctly.

They're slightly worried, since the birth mother has signed all the

papers, but the father is unavailable - he skipped parole and his

whereabouts are unknown. Theoretically he could come forward one day

and claim he wants the baby, and since he hasn't signed anything I

guess he still has rights ?. She's hoping the fact that he's fleeing

from the law will prevent that kind of scenario.

Unfortunately, adoption laws in this country vary from state to state, so what is applicable here in Michigan isn't the same as for California.

Here, the father's parental rights are terminated at the same time the mother's parental rights are terminated. Even if the whereabouts of the father are unknown, if all the proper legal notifications, publications in newspapers, etc. are followed, a paper can be filed listing the man as the putative father, and his rights can be terminated legally.

I don't know if it is the same for California, but you are right, his status as a fleeing felon probably is the best insurance against him trying to stake a claim for the baby.
