Guest guest
Hi All, Thought I'd chime in on this post. was having great difficulty with mood, irritability and sleep disturbance. this all started around mid-june. The pediatric neurologist that we see in guadalajara, mexico, who never seems to pay attention to diet or the other treatments she was on was alarmed when i told him about the diet and the fruit. He said that fructose can go straight to the brain in some people and cause spikes (epileptic type patterns). I also consulted with Dr. Neubrander, our DAN! doc. He agreed with Dr. Aguilar. He believes fully in SCD, but said to me that parents are giving too much fruit on the diet and it's causing problems. He said that the problems " go downstream " as well and can feed the bad bacteria and/or yeast. I have cut out the fruit. I have kept in carrots and this week tried butternut squash soup that was delicious. has been going to a camp at the jewish comm. center and they demand kosher lunches. That means no meat - only dairy etc (which she can't have. I've been pureeing the carrots and zucchini after steaming then adding raw egg and making pancakes. I've wondered about the sugar in the carrots, but she seems to be doing okay on this. I also make the zucchini muffins from the scd book and she gets some honey with that. Oh. Guest guest
Hi, I'm not sure what your question is about how long fruit had been in her diet. She didn't eat much fruit before SCD. She was eating banana pancakes every day and started on canteloupe and watermelon. She tried some berries(if she can handle them they'd probably be a good place to start now because they have low sugar). I did notice that she got nuts when having oranges. On GFCF she got sugar in other ways so didn't eat fruit except for watermelon (she's always loved that). I'm glad that she's not eating those cookies. I did try to make gingerbread cookies yesterday and they are delicious. Will try those walnut cookies today. I'm so happy to have her be able to eat something that resembles a cookie. I hate for her to feel deprived. Guest guest
--hi debbie, i was wondering how much fruit he ate before scd while eating gf and cf. so you answered it. it was simular for my kids. they also got enough sweet things gf and cf. we always avoided fruit because they seemed to do so bad. i went along with the premise that they would get healing on the scd diet and i was praying they would have enough to actually eat fruit, but in my kids case i don't think it will happen, lisa- In pecanbread , " salt20910 " <dzatz@v...> wrote: > Hi, > > I'm not sure what your question is about how long fruit had been in her diet.
