Guest guest
I read the constipation knowledge base. I am going to try the intro diet. Also, my child was taking a med that had a milk additive that I did not know it was in there. I think I need to start at square one again. Has anyone found a prune nectar or prune juice that is legal? I have Sunsweet Not from concentrate Prune Juice in my frig. I called the company and they said nothing has been added. I would like to try the stewed prunes but I am not sure where to buy them. Thanks. Guest guest
Lynn, The Sunsweet prune juice is fine. You just need to boil it down to half its original volume. 1 Quart juice into 1 pint nectar. To make stewed prunes, you just need to buy prunes and simmer them in water. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 18 months
Guest guest
Lynn, At our grocery stores, the prunes in the same section as the raisins. I just buy ones with no additives. Here is a stewed prune recipe: Place as many prunes as you wish into a saucepan and add enough water to just cover. Simmer on medium-low heat until they plump. Guest guest
My son was chronically constipated and though the prescription medication that the pediatrician gave him did work, I got to the point (because of researching about his little brother's austism) that I wanted to get him off of ALL his meds (eczema, constipation, sever asthma). He was only three years old and the pediatrician wanted to start him on his fourth prescription. That is when I started researching. What I found was that constipated kids are really low in magnesium and I found a magnesium product called Natural Calm made by Natural Vitality. It works like a charm. I just put it in his juice and adjust the dosage according to how loose his stools are (or are not). At first he needed quite a bit but now he is down to just needing a maintenance dose. This product has only magnesium citrate and not other ingredients. It has no starch, sugar, yeast, gluten, coloring or preservatives. I think the pharmecutical drugs that he was taking just added to his overall magnesium depletion. He is now on a pretty large regime of supplements but has NO eczema, constipation or asthma at all anymore. He is now 4 1/2.
