I am happy for you about the fridge as well and being able to keep him on the diet. I have been looking for a good multi and am glad to know they will send samples. Thanks so much for the report and God bless you. Guest guest
I say this from an observation stanpoint since my kids have only physical symptoms, and not behavioral ones... but from what I have read on this board over and over is that so many of these kids get on the diet and heal their tummies so they can absorb nutrients that they have not been able to absorb before. So, because you have had him on the diet for some time - evidently enough time to heal his tummy enough to absorb nutrients - your multivitamins are kicking in nicely. What a wonderful experience for you! I know just from my own experience with vitamins, one dose of my multi-mineral liquid makes a big difference in my mood, so yes, you have definitely hit on something there! That's wonderful! Robbie 2 kids SCD 3 wks and doing great! OT - Started my son on Brainchild Supplements A little while ago I posted at how I was feeling discouraged and the lack of progress my son was making. I had said I thought maybe it was time I put more focus on supplements for him. I had also mentioned due to the loss of our refrigerator and all that was in it, I may have to take my son off the diet. I just wanted to update you all. The clinic where my son has OT and PT had a dorm-style fridge they are letting my borrow for a month. The end of the month a lady I work with is getting a new fridge (larger with all the bells and whistles) and said she will give me her old one. I have been able to keep my son on the diet but had to reduce the quantity of food he eats until we get back on our feet. The day before yesterday a package arrived with samples of Brainchild's Spectrum Support multi-vitamins and minerals. I started with the suggested beginning dosage yesterday morning before school thinking it would be a week or two until I saw some kind of improvement, if any. When I went to pick him up from school I barely recognized him. He usually is on a swing expressionless. This time he was smiling from ear to ear. His ABA therapist said he had the best day in months. I took him home and he was in the best mood the rest of the day. He also was very affectionate and would constantly say mama to get my attention (he has only siad this a few times in his life). I spent a little time with him in the evening and all he would do is stare at me in the eyes. His eye contact has not been to great lately so having him stare at me was really touching. This morning he was still different. Usually when I get him up in the morning he does not want to get up, is really grumpy and has to be pushed to eat. This morning I walked in the room and he sat up right away. I told him it was time to get ready for school and he stood up raising his hands like he was waiting for me to change his shirt. He has never done this before. I put a new shirt on him and he helped more than usual. I sat him down to eat and he ate everything without being prodded. Afterschool today I picked him up and spoke this time to his classroom teacher. She said he was so much fun to be with today. She said he was in a great mood and participated in all the activities. I then took him to the clinic for OT and PT. He willingly went this time without protest. When I picked him up, his OT said he all of a sudden was willing to do all the activities they were asking him to do. She also said she had to change his diaper and he did not freak out (he has had a horrible fear of bathrooms lately - to the point where he will scream just if he has to pass by one). I don't know if all this is a coincidence but to have 4 different therapists whom did not know I did anything different tell me he has been a different child the last two days really seems like I have hit upon something. Can a multi-vitamin/mineral really have a positive reaction so quickly? And to think I am only giving him 1/8 of the dosage.
