Guest guest
, I am thrilled to hear of the miracle of the SCD yogurt. It is such an important food for our children. You can increase the amount. Be cautious, use your intuition and keep a food journal. Once yogurt is tolerated, give 1-2 cups a day.for little kids. For adults and teens give 1-3 cups a day. I am glad that your child can tolerate cow yogurt. Many of our ASD children cannot. Mimi Below is a copy from our old pecanbread website for parents who have not yet tried the yogurt: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Goat yogurt or sheep yogurt are recommended for children who were dairy free before starting SCD.For these children we endorse goat/SCD as the official diet of this list. Some ASD children are able to tolerate cow yogurt. If you do try cow yogurt, introduce it very slowly. If you do try cow yogurt and you get bad results it is not our responsibility. If you post about bad results with cow yogurt, please make it clear that you were using cow yogurt and that it is not the official diet of this list. > Well, began homemade yogurt of cow's half & half this week. > I began at about 1/4 tsp and he is now a about 2 tsp a day. Guest guest
What is cow's half and half? How do you make that? My son has just begun goat yogurt, and poops are still formed but floating and foul, but he hasn't had any diarrhea though, which is good, but I am noticing, like tonight, that his nose is stuffing up. Is this normal? He is allergic to cow's milk, and before that made his sinuses very bad, snoring, infections, even had adenoids and tonsils taken out before we knew the cause. Could the goat yogurt do this as well? He had a half teaspoon this morning. Guest guest
> What is cow's half and half? How do you make that? Tina, half & half is half cream and half whole milk, lots of people use it in place of creamer in their coffee, etc. It is right with the other milk at the grocery store. I read a post that said you could use this to get a less sour yogurt. I had great results. I'm sorry I don't know the answers to your other questions about the goat yogurt. We have just begun and I just decided to at least try the cow's milk products first as it would be so much easier. So far we are having good luck. He gets about 2 tablespoons a day now in nut milk and that is about as far as I can push him. Do I need to get him eat more of it to get bigger benefits? I can not see any direct impact the yogurt has had so far but I am sure in the long run it will help. (Dan, 3.6 yrs, SCD since 2/04)
Guest guest
, I don't think you need to push for him to have more yogurt. I would think that 2 TBL a day would be fine. Another way to get it in might be to mix it in nut butter and to turn it into a " fruit dip " . My boys really like it.
