Guest guest Posted July 10, 2006 Report Share Posted July 10, 2006 if you are looking for a neuropsychiatrist to tweak his meds and find the right ones, then i would reecomend dr sanders at the marcus institute here in atlanta. he has a son on the spectrum and knows the meds inside and out. how some work for some kids on the spectrum while others dont. if you are looking for more behavoiral tx solutions...i dont have any real good answers. behavoiral therapists are hit and miss and the personalities have to fit to be effective imho. hugs > > Hi, I have a 8yr old son.. who has Down Syndrome and autism. He is getting beyond my control, sadly this is the case. He is a head banger and screamer. We do have a appt to have a MRI set up due to the possible effect he has had a stroke or possible seizures. This is ruled out most likely he has JRA(Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis). We had him on Reg Focalin 5mg(3xday) and Risperdal 1mg(morning) and 3mg at night. Within 9-10 starting this, he started having balance issues, and seizure like activity. We cut both meds and they tried to start him on Geodon and the Daytrana Patch.. Sadly.. he DID not eat for 2 days.. and the patch caused a major Sunburn on the hip. > > We see a Psychiatry in Columbus GA....
