Guest guest
Oh my. I'd really hoped someone would have spoken up about my ring-question. Now I feel drama bubbling up at the edges that I have asked something inappropriate. I hope someone will reply to this topic, even if to tell me I am upsetting others? I'll take a deep breath and check back in a little while...

Guest guest
I accepted the size I was and kept gaining for many years as I continued to diet. I wore my rings on the wrong fingers for years and then I finally stabilized at 215 pounds (5'7") size 20W, I accepted the fact that I would live life at that weight, I finally had them made bigger. By the way, my weight actually stabilized for five years when I stopped dieting. I had been unknowingly practicing the principles of IE without the additional support I needed to learn to handle my emotional binges. Now that I have a library of books on binge eating support and emotional eating help, my rings need to be adjusted back. For me, resizing my rings lent solidarity to the fact that I had GIVEN up dieting and deprivation, although I was not aware of it at the time.My rings and clothes are not too big on me because of IE alone. I needed supplemental support that focused on the emotional issues I have with food. - I have a few favorite books I turn to when I get into binge modes, and I wish I didn't have 6 graduate credits of course work to complete this summer, because my progress would be so much greater with DAILY reading in my favorite books. JUST not enough time!!!! Hope this helped! Guest guest
I had thyroid cancer in 1992. It changed my body chemistry, and I can no long wear my wedding rings. I've had rings cut from my finger. It is not fun. I would suggest buying a cheap one in a bigger size, like someone else mentioned. Guest guest
Hi , Your statement that resizing the rings lends solidarity resonates with me. I also appreciated the idea of having an inexpensive ring for a while and see what happens. It sure feels significant about the ring, more so than a change in clothing size. I don't want to get my ring cut off, so I've removed it and will take a few days to sit with these thoughts. Thank you, everyone, for your ideas. Guest guest
I've reread my post and I hope it is clear that when I said resizing the rings lent solidarity to me, I was talking about the fact that I was now a bigger person (twice the person I used to be. Lol!), and that I was ok enough with it to see it as my permanent size! That is truly when I had found peace with my body, meaning I was ok with myself even at my highest weight! You can also wear your rings on the wrong fingers, I am doing that now as I wait 4 my weight to stabilize again... Ex. My wedding ring is on my right ring finger. It could be sized, but I don't want to put pressure on myself and lose control! Hope this makes sense! Guest guest
How about putting the ring on a necklace that you wear all the time and getting some fun bigger bands in the meantime (silver, etc...)? > > I have been Ie'ing (or learning to) since April. I feel much more whole, and overall I am striving to grow beyond the drama that dieting gave me for 35 years since a teen. > I decided not to weigh until Labor Day at the earliest. Amazingly that has been okay with me. > Here is my dilemma. I have gained a small bit of weight with these changes, and I am okay with that, but now my wedding band is very tight. Of course I want to wear my wedding band, but should I re-size it now, and then maybe change it again as I get larger or smaller? I can just barely work it off with lotion now, and this is making me anxious. What do others do? Make it larger and then put on a ring guard until things settle down (if they do?) Thanks for your advice. >
