Guest guest
rose, As usual, great ideas once again. I have a karaoke machine -- the old kind with no screen -- just two microphones, an amp (my son's electric guitar plus his little synthesizer which is fun to mike just the rhythm part. There are also two cassette players/recorders. we could have one tape playing while another records what silly sing along are happening. I also have a folk guitar but I can only play a couple of songs before my hands completely spasm tight. --long retired campcounselor Kay, what about a baby photo contest? Everyone brings a photo of themself as a baby or toddler. We put them on a poster board or something & everyone tries to match them with a list. Of course, one person can't participate in the contest, because they have to make the list, but they can still put a picture in. I've done this at work a couple of times & everyone has a great time. I usually stay away from the Most Beautiful Baby & similar stuff; just give a prize (like a pacifier) to the person who matches the most. Let me know if you want to do that and I'll get the stuff ready, if you can get the word out to everyone to bring a photo. Oh, I had another idea. I was reading the hotel website about the evening get-together, which we will miss because it's M-Th. What about a Hootenanny? I went to one at Mounds Park last fall & it was a blast. It was a pitch-in; anybody in the community could come. They had packets of songs printed up & I brought one home (with permission). There were musicians there-guitar, banjo & drums, but we could have fun singing a cappella. I could even tape record it! Whatcha think? Boomer Rose Re: Re: Annual Get Together , Rose, Toni, & Everyone, What a great idea, ! I don't have a laptop and wouldn't have a clue how to do any of that, but we will be glad to have any of you there, whether in body or spirit! Guest guest
Hello, . I wrote a reply to this message, but I think I accidentally deleted it before it got sent. If you did get it, just pick whichever one seems most lucid. I have a set of Baby Boomer Trivial Pursuit cards. It's fun to just play informally--someone reads the question & whoever wants to hollers the answer. Or you can play teams. Actually, I guess you read the answer & someone gives the question. Whatever. Anyway, I got some fairy dust. So, we're all set except the bootstraps. What about just using wide ribbon (grosgrain might be more durable than satin), customized length (I would say to go under the foot and come up high enough to grab, with a loop in the ends. We could snip the ends with pinking shears to avoid raveling. We could jazz them up with some glitter paint in random patterns. I can make some little cards to go with them. I think I would put on the cards something like their friends or family can pull the bootstraps for them if necessary. What do you think? I don't know how much the ribbon would cost; I'll look at Walmart & the fabric store here. Do you have any idea how many are attending the meeting? The nice thing about doing it this way is that we would only need to make just enough, and could personalize them. You could do it lying down & Sam could help. We could even advertise our room as the Bootstrap Boutique or whatever. As far as the music, a few years ago I went to Anchorage, Alaska for a midwifery conference. A couple of friends & I drove along the coast & for some reason started thinking of songs from the 60's & 70's. We sang every song we could think of, humming when we couldn't remember the words. It was a blast. Well, I'm going to try to call you tonight. Theresa & are here & it's a little hectic. spent the night & he was great, just so much energy!
