You'll understand after you read the book, but there is also a good explanation on www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info No fudging. It negates the benefits of following the diet at all. Garlic powder has a very high risk of starch contamination. Use fresh garlic, or dehydrate and grind your own to make powder. > > using acidophilus power with fos (I've been giving this to my son for a while now and still have some) Elaine has quite a lot to say about fos. Go to her website and check it out. You need to use the legal probiotic. > Also, because of blood loss, is anemic. I've been giving him iron from Water OZ. The iron drops the doc recommended seemed to be very irritating so I'm doing this instead, which don't seem to bother him. Should I stop? If he gets too anemic, they will do a blood transfusion on him. I'm not sure about iron - another moderator will answer, I'm sure. If I had the ability, I'd go over to Elaine's site and look into it. > When first flared up a year ago, I noticed right away that sugar was bad news. We got a ketchup from the health food store that was sweetened with grape juice. Can I use that? I don't have a food processor yet and until I get one, I bet I can't do a lot of these recipes. No storebought ketchup. You can easily make your own without many gadgets. There are recipes on pecanbread and scdrecipe, but I just simmer down some tomato juice with the spices called for until it gets thick. It's very yummy! > > Ok, that's it for now I think. Robbie, When I think about those little fudges, this is what I imagine - the bad bugs are just sitting down there in his gut and they are getting hungrier and hungrier with every illegal that is elimimated. They have been well-taken care of little buggers for a while now, and they are still fairly strong. They are hungry and calling out for food. They are just waiting for one tiny speck of starch or wrong kind of sugar.... When they get it, they have a big burst of energy and multiply - then, there are more down there and they are even hungrier. The more specks of illegals they get, the stronger they get and they start bullying out the good guys again. It's a vicious cycle, Robbie. I've been on SCD since last September. Every time I cheat, I regret it. I feel horrible. Even with ONE bite of cake at a party. Headache, tired, grumpy. NOT worth it. I think I now have some insight into how felt for so long. I would NEVER knowingly feed him an illegal now, because I don't want to inflict that discomfort on him. 100% - fanatical adherance. It's the only way for the littles if they are going to heal. We have members who do not follow it 100% and they have repeated problems and are not seeing the kinds of success others see. Sorry if this offends anyone, but I don't think it's a good idea for people to call their children " SCD for X number of weeks/months " when they haven't really been SCD during that time. When people see that someone has " been on the diet " for such a long time, but are having so many problems - it can be confusing. I'm not talking about an infraction or two. I'm talking about ongoing " fudging " . But that is just MY opinion. Take care and keep reading the websites until your book comes. It just gets more and more clear. Also, keep asking questions! son - 5 yo, ASD, SCD 15 months
Guest guest
Robbie, do what you can do as fast as you can do it. Its impossible to wake up the next day and be 100% SCD. Ive tried it the last 5 days or so. ITs frustrating but keep plugging along and one day you will wake up and say, I DID IT!!!! Im SCD!!! yoooohooooo!! :-) Now I cant wait till I can feel that triumph. I know its around that corner. kimberly tristans mom 5yr autistic > Until I can get the book and until I can get some items that I know I'll need to adhere to this diet strictly, can I fudge a little or is it completely useless to do so?
