This forum is for people to discuss thier experiences and positive ways of healing and growing from the inherently destructive cult of 12 step programs, not to chat about gun control and the death penalty. If you want to discuss these issues, you should find another forum from which to spout from your soap-box

i did not realize that i was required to introduce myself to express an opinion ..... sounds like that aa stuff has crept a little too far into ......

as far as the purpose of the forum, i do think it's name or title is rather indicative to what someone of average inteligence would expect to find here.

I didnt put you in that category Sue; you just chose to declare

yourself in it. My post wasnt in response to one of yours in any way.

It is an interesting philosophical question whether your criterion can

*ever* be satiasfied, but even if it can it takes time and hence we

are back with the long appeals process. I expect the burden of proof

in the US is the same as here; " beyond all reasonable doubt " . In other

words, we already *have* this criterion, it still gets the wrong

person executed occasionally, and ppl may still be let off for fear of

doing so.

> Yeah, I guess I do put myself in that category and dont apologize

I think the real tragedy of these death penalty and gun control

threads is that I havent even begun to express the real reasons for my

views, which I believe are very different from what many ppl seem to

think they are. As it is, I have allowed to pass by accusations from

different sources that I am indifferent to the rights of the victims

of serial killers or the welfare of my grandparents. These are totally

untrue and unfair. It might be nice one day to discuss it in a

*suitable* forum with mutual respect and without bitterness. What I

will say here is firstly I am not as opinionated as I might seem on

these topics, especially with regard to the gun situation in the US.

I have tried to think about this question with some openness to the

views of others and an appreciation of a differen cultural

perspective. I realize that what might be the best way to handle

things in my country may well not be in the US.

Perhpas you are right.

howevr, I do find it rather novel when someone in their very first

post without even introducing themself tells an established list what

their list is for.
