Guest guest
1) Can I give him any kind of fruit on the into diet? He eats red grapes, watermellon and pears. The intro diet is as it appears on pecanbread.com (http:www.pecanbread.com/foodprep.html) There is no fruit allowed on the intro diet. Watered down grape juice is allowed for carbohydrates. 2) I know BTVC recommends multi vitiamins from Freeda, but which one or does it matter? There is a pretty long list of legal supplements on pecanbread.com. (http://www.pecanbread.com/supplements.html) You may use any of those or any other brand that contains only legal ingredients. 3) Can I use any kind of can Italian tomatoes to make pasta sauce or is it just fresh? To make tomato sauce, you boil down tomato juice. If you like it thicker and a little chunky, you can add some fresh diced tomatoes. The recipe for the tomato sauce is in Breaking the Vicious Cycle. ) This is a BIG ONE...... I was giving my son Meletonin recommended by my DAN after I told him that my son has recently started with these tantrum at night You can still give Melatonin on SCD. I use KAL brand. No illegal fillers. We use the .5 mg fast acting type. Works like a charm every night. I found a product called Calms from the maker of Hyland in the health food store. The ingredients you listed are like a foreign language to me. The only way to know if it is legal is to do some research on each one of those ingredients on google to see if you can figure out whether they are made up of di- or polysaccharides. Welcome to the list!! Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 16 months
Guest guest
ACK! Since my book hasn't arrived yet, I've been trying to muddle through. I started on the diet today, but definitely not the intro diet! OH my - no carbs at all I see. This would bring on ketosis. Is that bad? Or is it not long enough. I promise I ordered my book today and it should arrive soon... just wanted to try and get started sooner. I pasted it into this message. Well cooked carrots, juice, and homemade gelatin made with fruit juice are on the intro - all have carbs. From www.pecanbread.com Food Preparation: ------------------------------------------------ ASD Intro Diet Since the many of the children with ASD were casein free before beginning the SCD™, here is a list of suggested foods for the intro diet. The intro diet should be followed for 2-5 days. Chicken broth --Chicken broth with pureed cooked carrots --Chicken broth with chunks of cooked chicken --Chicken broth with cooked carrot sliced into little " coins " --Chicken broth with " chicken balls " made from ground chicken --Chicken broth with " noodles " made from beaten eggs cooked omelette- style into a " crepe " and then rolled up and thinly sliced --Chicken egg-drop soup Chicken pancakes Roasted chicken Roasted turkey Beef broth --Beef broth with meatballs made from ground beef Hamburger patties Eggs --scrambled --poached --hard-boiled --soft-boiled --sunny side up --deviled eggs made with homemade mayo Homemade jello (made from unflavored real gelatin and purple and/or white grape juice) Made in a shallow pan and cut with shaped cookie cutters or into cubes ---------------------- I know you don't have your book yet, but have you really taken a good look at pecanbread? There is so much good information there. Please let us know if you have anymore questions! Take care, son - 5yo ASD, SCD 15months

Watered down grape > juice is allowed for carbohydrates. As Jody wrote watered down grape juice is there for carbs. Ditto the diluted legal apple cider. There are also carbs in the carrots in the chicken soup. If you make the cheesecake there will be some carbs in that. Sheila
