Guest guest
, I think if you start with the intro and you introduce foods slowly and feed only what is well tolerated, that you will begin to see results within a few months. The beginning may seem like it is making him worse because as the pathogenic bacteria and yeast die, they emit toxins and generally make people feel bad. Once the gut is free of the " bad guys " and the healing begins, you should see positive things. Improved stools, improved behavior. For family members who don't " buy into it " , just remind them that this new style of eating is very healthy and consists primarily of fruits, vegetables and meat. There are lots of yummy treats and his food intake will not be restricted at all. And most of all this is NOT a low carb diet. With the current popularity of Atkins, whenever people hear the word " carb " or " carbohydrate " , the visions of LOW carb begin running through their heads. We have recipes for lots of yummy treats: ice cream, cakes, waffles, pancakes, muffins, cookies and even candy. He won't be " deprived " . He'll just have different choices than he had before. Guest guest
Hi , I hear you, about the family. I had my problems initially, especially since my mom came from a family of dairy farmers! LOL! Anyway, it depends on what " results " you're talking about. Poop? Behaviour? Language? We saw enough new language and new sociability to keep us going at the beginning. It took 8 weeks for us to get trophies (perfect little log poops) from my ASD kid (3.5 at the time) but only 7 to 10 days for my little constipated (15 months at the time) baby. Some kids take longer than others. I really think you need to commit yourself to 4 to 6 months. I know, it's a big commitment. But look at it this way: you will be feeding your child a beautiful, healthy diet that will not harm him in any way. This is a gut-healing diet (originally for people with bowel disease) and it will definitely help him in that area. Best of luck with the family, and I hope you stay! Guest guest
Hi, Yes, we did the intro for 4 days. Currently he is eating: Chicken pancakes Eggs (hardboiled or scrambled) Hamburgers: ground beef, eggs, pureed carrots Cooked carrots Cooked butternut or acorn squash Pearsauce Pear juice (I have been using the liquid that I cook the pears in for pearsauce and diluting it.) macadamia nut butter He isn't taking any supplements, but prior to starting SCD he was on azulfadine for about 2 years. But even then he still had very soft poops and diarrhea. We decided to try the diet while we were waiting to get an SCD legal refill on his prescription so he has been off of his medication for at least a month. His poops have changed since starting SCD. They have become orange (from all the carrots) and have occasionally had some firm parts. Once there was a fairly formed poop, but the next one was right back to diarrhea. The diarrhea is very gritty pre-scd and continues to be so. Dr. Krigsman said that it is related to the inflamation. Anyway, I just don't know if I should continue to add foods or hold off for awhile. Thanks, Gwen > Gwen, > > Did you start with the intro? > What foods is he eating now?
