Guest guest
More I said on freedomofmind: A further thought on this, is that prejudice against Bush Jr as a " dry drunk " wouldnt even have made sense to the early AAs. Notably Bush says he " found God " when he quit drinking. In other words, he recovered in exactly the manner that the 12 step program encourages. Why then the hostility to him from AA ppl? Because he is not AA of course. But if one looks at the AA literature there is nothing that actually says one has to attend meetings to recover using the 12 steps. Nothing at all. One needs to help other alcoholics (Step 12) but one can do that without going to meetings. In addition, one is supposed to stay anonymous. Couldnt it be perhaps that Bush *is* AA but just keeps the tradition of anonymity as he is supposed to? Of course, he might get " outed " , but if his home group are true to their own traditions, they should stay tight-lipped. Why the poor man might be desperate to speak out, and perhaps even made unhappy by his AA critics, if only they would realize the truth! Rather than acknowledging that Bush actually meets AA's central principle for recovery, that of belief in God, or considering that Bush Jr might actually practise the 12 steps privately, with or without AA attendance, or even might have independently have discovered or worked out the same basic ideas for himself of without needing to get them from AA, these ppl instead are rejecting him for not being a publicly declared , meeting attending AA person like so many other politicans and celebrities are. Ironically, Dubya could be far closer to the ideal envisaged by and than their later followers. Pete --- End forwarded message ---
Guest guest
Call me stupid. That is the first time I realized that Bush actually could be... a stepper. Well that would really suck. Thanks for that revelation, Pete. In fact, any politician could be a closet stepper. I am getting the heeby-jeebies now! Well I'm not saying its plausible, merely that its possible, something these AA fanatics seem to be completely oblivious to, and shows how they really expect a prominent AA to be public with it rather than be anonymous. While a big politician realistically cant hope to keep it quiet, there are almost certainly many powerful ppl who are either steppers themselves or are very closely related to one, and as such is the importance of Ken's database of same.
