Guest guest
I am not sure why you think that lemon juice is stage four. Eating a raw lemon would be a thing to do later in the diet, but juice is allowed at the beginning of the diet. Grape juice and apple cider are even allowed on the intro. You can use the lemon juice or the vinegar, whatever you prefer. I didn't think I liked mayonnaise at all until I started making mayo from scratch years and years ago when we were GFCF. I made it with lemon juice (the recipe that's on pecanbread.com). I realized that it was the vinegar in mayo that I had always disliked. Guest guest
Thanks Jody, I made it and it's delish, we ate it with bacon, eggs and mushrooms, Hudson had it all pureed together and he gobbled it. I thought lemon juice may be stage four since lemons are, and I haven't read anything to say juices are ok at the start of the diet. I know people give grape juice and cider but I hadn't read about it so we haven't. Hudson drinks pureed stewed fruit and the water used to cook it, and nut milk with bananas in a shake. Thanks, Chris.

Thanks, Chris. Please don't avoid legal foods just because they are not listed on The Stages. The Stages are just suggested guidelines. Recheck page 61 of BTVC and if possible reread the entire chapter on introducing the diet. Once diarrhea is gone you can use all raw fruits and vegetables your child tolerates. One of the concerns about the stages is not all permitted foods are listed. there simply isn't room. We would not want people to limit their children to restricted menu needlessly.. Carol F.
