I think the terms are used for the same thing sometimes, but the

products can be very different. I really like the almond flour from

Lucy's kitchen shop. (link from pecanbread, or it is listed in BTVC)

It is nice and fluffy.

There are links to a few other places on www.pecanbread.com under

Food Preparation. Try those and see what you think. Others here have

some different sources. If they don't answer soon, do a search in the

archives.

The meal I get from Trader Joes is not blanched. I don't use it for

- just us adults. I think online is the best OR homemade in

your food processor. Plus, many people use nutbutter instead of

nutflour.

I can't remember how long you've been on the diet. The latest

recommendation is really to start with nut butters and then work your

way toward the most tolerable of the nut flours which is actually

isn't almond. Can you give us some more info and then we can see if

we have any other ideas.

Lucy sells really fine ground almond flour. Maybe you could get a

small bag of that to give you something to judge others by.

It depends on where you live.

I live in Canada so I'm not of much help.

,

Thanks for the info. We've been on the diet for a couple of weeks. I

tried peanut butter a few days ago and it went over fine. His stools

have firmed up and are looking good. How long should I wait for

trying the almond flour (or what flour should I start with?). Does it

need to be blanched almond flour/meal?

Thanks for the help. I still feel like I'm floundering around with

all this info I need to know!

Oh Gosh, Lori - I STILL feel like I'm floundering around on some of

this stuff!! It takes at least a few months to really get the

routines down. Then, after you feel a little settled down, you try

some new stuff and the whole feeling comes back :-) No Problem!

On the nut flour, I really think if I were you, I'd stick with nut

butters for a while. Do you have a food processor? I got a Cuisinart

on sale through amazon.com for under $80. I'm sure it has paid for

itself by now in nut butter alone. I just get raw nuts (blanced for

almonds, hazelnuts and cashews) and let it go. After it turns to

something like flour, I drizzle in a little oil - then - it's nut

butter consistency and is great for baking, making pancakes, etc.

You are welcome to try nut flour, but I would use blanched when

possible for almond meal because the skins can be tough to digest. A

lot of people like pecan meal/flour (it's not blanched) ditto for

walnut flour. It's just one of those things that when you try it, you

need to go slowly and watch for any reactions.
