Guest guest
Yes, just don't go with your parents or in-laws, unless they are very supportive. It is stressful enough without that added headache of being under a microscope for everything you do and don't do! I love my extended family, but a group vacation is not a good idea for us at the moment! Tina > One should not be afraid to take a vacation on the scd. I would think > camping would be easy. Guest guest
See, it depends on your family. I'd never go with MY extended family (nightmare!!), but we ARE going to the beach with DH'S parents and it will be GREAT because they are so supportive. She's my SCD co-chef, she's the best. It can actually be helpful, too, because they can entertain the kids while you cook. So I'm looking forward to vacation, obviously we got a place with a full kitchen! in NC mom to Luke, 5, Asperger's/low-salicylate; , 3;,23 mos; All SCD since 1/26/
Guest guest
" One should not be afraid to take a vacation on the scd " Nice topic. We are in the middle of a search for a mini-fridge to store the yoghurt in. Fact is, my son needs the yoghurt pretty badly. We planned on doing another bike tour this year (camping), but without the little fridge, we can't take the yoghurt. So we need to go by car this year. Guest guest
If you don't find a mini-fridge, you should be able to take yogurt in a cooler quite successfully, just make sure you keep ice in it. I've done it 3 times now, once for two weeks, once for 5 days, once for 9 days. Camping, in my opinion, is a VERY easy way to take a vacation on SCD. The food is relatively simple, you can take and eat whatever and whenever you need/like, no one expects to worry about a restaurant, etc etc. Course, we all love camping, so that helps! I have done a 9 day trip in a hotel recently. Took all food for the 4 of us for 9 days. It was a lot of prep ahead of time, but worked out well ON the trip. We did choose to eat out twice - we got the kids plain hamburgers and raw salad veggies, one place had fresh fruit, and took along some SCD cookies and crackers. My husband and I were less careful (OK, we cheated - but did NOT go so far as to order pasta or dessert) Happy vacationing! -- Sue, mom to Adam and > " One should not be afraid to take a vacation on the scd " > > Nice topic. > We are in the middle of a search for a mini-fridge to store the > yoghurt in.
