i'd start at a half grain, caroline, so you reduce the risk of side

effects like palpitations and such.

caroline that's not a bad price. at walgreens i pay $10.34 for 30x

30mg tablets. at my osteopath's i paid $7 for 30x 60mg tablets. looks

like the difference was in the shipping for you, which saves you having

to make a trip to a drug store and back, i guess.

Ok, I made a note of that l/2 gr. dose. I guess I'll know if it's too much if I

get rapid heart beat & start bouncing off the walls? Will my temp. rise too if

I'm taking too much?

Oh, Walgreen's sells generic Armour? Didn't know that. That's way more expensive

tho but your osteo's a bit more reasonable, yes. I guess it does save a bit in

gas money for me by ordering it. I'd have to drive a ways to Walgreens too. So I

guess it comes out somewhat even when ordering it then. Not to complain too much

I suppose. I can't drive anywhere without a car right now anyway so have to pay

the bigger price to order it. Also to get rides where I need to go around here

lately. I sure need my car back or a better car just for $savings$ sake.

Carolyn, if you start on a dose as low as 1/4 grain, or half grain,

or one grain, just remember that you will need to rise from the

lower doses within at least 3 weeks to prevent your hypo from

returning with a vengeance.

No, it won't be too much if you get a rapid heart beat. What the

rapid heart beat will suggest is the need to be on adrenal support

before continuing on Armour.

Or....also note that if you have MVP, the T3 can initially cause

palps, but the heart adjusts fairly quickly.

It's also important to optimize Ferritin levels before you get too

high on Armour. When I got to 2 grains, I had problems again with

palps. But it wasn't that I was on too much--it was that my Ferritin

was monstrously low and I didn't realize it!

A rise in temp is gradual as you increase your Armour. You won't

have to worry about that.

But....don't worry about any of this!! MOST folks do not need

adrenal support, and MOST folks do great on Armour starting doses of

one grain (or less). You may be one of the above!

Another thing I noticed while raising my dosages was that I had a pounding

heart several times within a couple weeks of an increase. I did not panic

nor reduce the dosage and it stopped within a few days. It was not

uncomfortable and most noticed while trying to go to sleep as it was loud!

LOL My best guess was that my heart needed time to adjust to the higher

metabolic rate of the new dosage. This is where I think the heart muscle

does get slack after years of being hypo. I have never needed adrenal

support other than the DHEA I took for the last 4 years and Pregnenolone,

which also supports the adrenals as well as converting T4 to T3, though I

can;t see where it has helped me with converting at all.

As myrxforless is in Mexico the shipping charge is for the Mexican

post office. Not the US Postal service.

yes, if you can get a prescription from it, you will save money on s/h.

i've heard costco pharmacy is a good place to get meds from. but i bet

you walmart will have it. i've heard of armour being hard to get

sometimes but i've never run into a problem getting a hold of it.

just so you know, you can also order it online from walgreens if you

give them the prescription info. the s/h is much less. i think $1.95.

best,

And just a heads up - your meds will probably arrive registered

return receipt - so you will have to sign for them.

I wonder if it depends on where we're located as to how they send it

out? I've yet to get mine where I had to sign for it. It's always

in the PO Box, in a small padded envelope, with a label that is taped

onto the front of it. Yet a lot of people have to sign for it?

Strange.

Ya know Baron, that just made me realize. Caroline could actually

call her pharmacy and see if a dr near her does prescribe Armour,

maybe get some general info if the pharmacist is in a friendly mood.

Like do they get many orders to fill for Armour. hmmm. Supposedly,

Walmart will price match if you find something from them that is

cheaper elsewhere, also?
