Hi all,

I'm a new member with no definate diagnosis as yet. I have a two year

history of severe upper central abdominal pain. The pain is not

relieved by anything other than opiates and I have been on continuous

morphine for 12 months now. The only explanation for the pain so far

is from an ultrasound scan I had in March 2004. This found an

enlarged head of pancreas which they say is a feature of chronic

pancreatitis and also beading and tortuosity of the common bile duct

which is seen in psc. I have also had some vaguely abnormal blood

results where my bilirubin and amylase levels have been slightly

raised. My gastroenterologist is reluctant to give me a diagnosis at

present since I have had a normal CT and MRI scan since. Recently I

have begun to have problems with tiredness to the point of exhaustion

where I just can't keep going and also itchy skin especially at night.

I would like to hear from anyone who may have had a similar

experience in the early stages or anyone who has a view on whether or

not my symptoms could be down to PSC.

I am at a loss as to where to go from here although I am waiting to

have another ultrasound scan by the same consultant who found the

original signs.

I would be most grateful for anyones thoughts and opinions regarding

my situation and will keep you posted as to how things progress.

Many thanks

Kathy
