Guest guest
" He is eating almond flour, eggs veg and most meats, jelly occasionally. " Aileen, The only source of carbs you mention is the jelly. Since jelly isn't usually something eaten in large quantities, I am concerned that he is not getting enough carbohydrates. Guest guest
Sorry. I didn't mean to imply that the lack of carbohydrates would cause bedwetting. I haven't the slightest idea what causes bedwetting. My boys are 8 and going on 6 and we've only had a handful of dry nights between the two of them in their lifetimes. If he won't eat fruit, will he drink juice? Can you put fruit into his muffins and get carbs in him that way? What is it about fruit that he dislikes? Guest guest
Hi Aileen, > Also is your email suggesting that lack of carbohydrates are causing > bedwetting and if he had more it would stop? Please clarify for me > as I have not read anything on how this diet effects bed wetting > issues. Many people report kids increased bed wetting upon starting SCD. (The adults just make the mad midnight dash.) This is often attributed to the change in diet. Especially if they are having a lot of diarrhea the water that has been expelled with the loose stools starts to be absorbed by the body. Another reason is the expulsion of water that has been retained in tissues while sick, as the body heals it gets rid of the extra fluid (one of the reasons some kids lose a little weight when starting SCD - it's water weight). So, it can be a sign of healing - though a pain to wash the sheets. Sheila
