Carol, I have been using fitday.com to find out the no of cals, grams

of protein, carbs, etc for foods but could not find anything on the

site that suggested how many of these a child of almost 5 needs per

day. I know that Bram should be getting approx. 1800 cals a day but

how many grams of carbs, protein, etc. I've read answers to peoples

questions on this site that will say " you need to up the carbs as the

child should be getting so many grams of carbs " This is what I was

looking for.

Thanks,

The information that I have been able to find suggests a

minumum of 160 g of carbs per day for kids his age.

The recommendations that I have seen for fat/protein and carbs

is as below:

20-30%protein

30% fat

40-50% carbs

Protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram.

Fat has 9 calories per gram.

So for an 1800 calorie diet, the breakdown is as follows:

90-135g protein

60g fat

180-225g carbs

Thanks a bunch. Sorry to be such a pest. FYI Bram is doing pretty

well after 6 months of D we have flipped to C but have had a few

trophies and stools in general are 100 of x better just not very

frequent. I am now working on decreasing his constipation. I think

it will help to right itself as we do some fine tuning to get the

cals, carbs etc up around the recommended ranges and restart

supplements.

Thanks again,
