Guest guest
I was wondering about how to keep the carrot curls. Do they have to be eaten right after frying them or can they be stored and kept crisp? Same question for the Butter Nut Squash fries. Guest guest
Beth, I've never had much luck keeping either of these crispy. I'm anxious to here if anybody else has. If I have leftover fries, I sick them in a 350 oven for a few minutes, and they come up crispy again. As for the carrot curls, I think they are good for the day, but not beyond that. I usually make them in the morning, stick them in a ziplock bag, and put in Jack's lunch for school. I'm pretty sure they stay crispy. Guest guest
I can't tell you about fries- for some reason my family does not like them, but we do the carrot curls. I line a tupperware bowl with a paper towel and put the carrots on top. Store in the fridge. They stay crisp for days. I make a huge batch and we eat them with lunch or for snacks. 5/Nick 3- SCD 3 1/2 mo > Beth, > I've never had much luck keeping either of these crispy. I'm > anxious to here if anybody else has. Guest guest
I use my cheap-o deep fryer for carrot curls. I peel the carrots then use the peeler to slice them thin at an angle. After about 3-4 minutes in the fryer they are a nice golden brown. I put them on the paper towel, add some sea-salt and let them cool. If they aren't eaten immediately upon cooling I put them in a ziplock and store them in the cupboard just like old fashioned potato chips. It never fails. Just make sure they are cool or the steam will make them soggy. Helen, mom to (ASD, SCD 4/04) > I was wondering about how to keep the carrot curls.
