Guest guest Posted September 6, 2004 Report Share Posted September 6, 2004 i was at my local " whole foods store " . to see if there is one near you go to www.wholefoods.com . they take orders for fresh ham for the holidays. i asked when that would begin happening and told them i would like one ordered now. so from now till through the holidays you can order fresh ham at whole foods. i think it was about $3.00 a pound and you can order whatever size you want. no ingredients other than ham. i am planning on slicing it for luncheon meat. i have no idea how to cook it but i am sure my " joy of cooking " will cover that well. would i slice it all and then freeze it? or freeze it and only slice what i need as i need it? my plan is to ask a local deli to slice it up for me during their not busy hours. preferrably early in the morning before the meat slicer was used by any other meats/cheeses. if my kids like it i will buy a slicer. tons to pick from at www.walmart.com Donna Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Can you find out what else is in there? Whole Foods generally will not carry anything with preservatives in them. I've never seen anything there with nitrates in it at all. I, too, am curious about the ingredients though. Is this a country ham, that's cured in salt, not sugar? Or just a nitrate free version of regular ham. let us know if you know, please!!! I wish we had your whole foods! I haven't asked about irdering though.
