Aren't raisins supposed to be a no-no for those battling yeast? Is

this a myth or is due to the 30 sugars in a box, yeast on the skin

etc? Pls advise, as I purchased organic raisins today and was

thinking about sharing with my 8 yo.

Thanks, Gloria, mom to , 8 yo ASD, SCD 9.5 months

According to SCD, raisins are legal. They are a monosaccharide and

easy to digest, nothing is left in the gut for the bad guys to eat up.

At 9.5 months, I would say, try 'em out. As long as there isn't a

stool or phenol issue with raisins then they are fine on SCD.

No, raisins are not illegal....... as long as they're just plain raisins with

nothing added (Sunmaid raisins are okay, for example). However, dried fruit is

not for beginners.

I thought raisins were illegal because all those commercially dried foods

can have starches added as anti-caking coatings . . . ??? Jody? Carol?

Sheila? Anybody?

In relation to SCD raisins are legal, But...like any other food if

you aren't ready for it then it is going to cause trouble. There is

a lot of fibre and natural sugar and pectin in raisins. So, if you

are battling yeast pretty fiercely eating a load of raisins, even if

legal, is not going to help. The body *has to be healed enough* to

be able to digest all that fibre, natural sugar and pectin.

So, if your 8 yo bm's are doing pretty good and is ready for dried

food, start with a few and see what happens. If the bm's are not

good yet then raisins are probably still a no-no ,for now.
