Birth story Long (preg ment)

Hi All,

Well little is sleeping I will give you an update on my l & d. I woke up

June 28th at 4:15a.m. to go to the bathroom to find that my waters was

leaking so we called the on call Dr. and he wanted me to go to the hospital

to check everything because we weren't sure that is what it was. We arrived

to the hospital at about 6:00a by that time I knew that it was what I

thought. We were admitted and waited for him to show up. I was really

nervous never having been through this before! At this point no real

contractions had started. At about 6:30a the doc showed up to confirm that

I was in labor, they tested the fluid to see if 's lungs were developed

since he was 4 1/2 weeks early. At that point his lungs were not fully

developed. I was kind of bummed at this point because they thought he might

have to spend some time in the nicu and I didn't think that my Dr. was

going to be delivering him either. I asked him if he had notified my Dr

that I was in labor just to let her know and he said he was going to because

she was going to be on call starting at 7:00a Wow what a load off my

mind I was glad to know that at least she would be the doc. She finally

showed up at about 8:30a at this point I was 0 dilated and cervix was barely

softening she had us go tour the NICU just in case he was going to be there

they thought he might be there about a week. I thought uh oh we are in

for a long haul. My doc told them no internal checks to help avoid any

infection because he was so early and then she told me that she thought we

would have a baby sometime on the evening of the 29th.

As the day progressed the contractions were getting much stronger I did end

up taking Fentenol (sp) at 11:00a and then again at 12:00p.m. by 12:20p I

told the nurse that that % & ^*(#n stuff wasn't working anymore and I thought

I wanted an epidural at this point. So she decided to check me first and

LOW AND BEHOLD I was at 9 1/2 centimeters I thought holy crap no wonder why

I was in so much pain. I thought maybe I was at 5 but 9 1/2 no way! The

nurse called for the epidural and my Dr. when my doc got there she didn't

believe I was that far so she checked for herself and sure enough I was. I

did still get my epidural and was really glad because man what a difference,

although it somewhat wore off so I felt every pain through pushing you could

feel it was suppose to be continuous but for some reason it didn't

completely work for me, so I resorted to swearing my DH said he was

embarrassed I guess I had a pretty bad sailor mouth at this point (he was

joking and thought I did wonderful but I do remember swearing a lot. So

after quite a quick labor I ended up having to push for 3 hours! ouch. AT

5:24p on the 28th of June our miracle was born. he was 6 lbs and 19 inches

long and had great lungs his apgar scores were 8 and 9 and he was a

beautiful baby blonde hair and of course blue eyes ( most are at this point)

they said this kid is going no where but with his parents to their room! I

was so happy to hear that he was fine. We came home from the hospital on

Monday for a day and a half and then we ended up back in the hospital

because he was jaundice and needed light therapy, we came back home on the

4th and things seem fine now he goes back Tues for a check up. All in all

he is my night in shining armor and man what a good baby so far! I just

hope that he stays that way.

I am still working on getting the pictures downloaded so I can post them. I

will let you know when they are posted. We need to finish his nursery first

since he came so early it wasn't done.
