Guest guest Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Ali & - Just wanted to chime in on your UD ttc thread. , I can't imagine the pain of losing 2 little ones, I hope you are taking care of yourself. My heart goes out to you. Ali, hang in there...there isn't any reason to worry yet. First let me say that scientifically, the presence of UD itself doesn't lower your fertility rates (unless you have a non- communication horn, or a vag septum that blocks one or both cervix) I know of lots of UD ladies who are regular Fertile Myrtles. They get pg easily, stay that way and have beautiful babies. (See Kosic Kids and Neal's girls under Our Kids in the Photos section) That said, unfortunately, just because we are blessed with an extra uterus, doesn't give us immunity to other issues. (I wish it did) Infertility is unbelievably common, and for whatever reason, it is common amoung MA's too. DH and I have been ttc for a loooong time. We suffered a loss at 9 weeks last year. This is cycle # 44 (I have short cycles so it isn't as impressive as it sounds) We have been through every infertility test in the book and some that I am sure were made up just for me. Passed them all with flying colors, with the exception of low mid- luteal progesterone and this pesky extra equipment. I have fought doctors tooth and nail, but I am proud to say that I am finally taking some action - I live in the land of conservative doctors - who didn't want to anything that might increase the chance of multiples in my smallish uteri. I finally convinced my RE that 44 tries and 1 failed pg wasn't cutting the mustard. I am now on a low dose of clomid and IF I ovualte on the right side, we will do IUI sometime next week. Baby dust, baby dust. :-) My advice to Ali would be to not worry about a thing for the first 6- 12 cycles of ttc. if you have a vaginal septum, you can actually add another 6-9 cycles to that - because, lets face it, you aren't going to hit the ovulating side each month. :-) Then, if you still aren't pg, I would insist on a full I/F workup. Many issues are minor and easily fixed, others are more complicated and can take time. Actually, I would start all of that at about a year out...I am unbelieveably impatient. I think I made it to all of 9 months before I started demanding a work-up (yes, my doctor hates me.) If either of you (or anybody else) want more info on ttc/if issues (or anything), please feel free to email me privately. I will try to check back with the board more frequently, but I don't want to make promises I may not be able to keep. Hope that helps! fused UD Quote
