Guest guest
, Honestly, sometimes things just have to hit you. You just have to decide to do it. Everyone can tell you what worked for them but it really just comes down to you. back to the beginning.... Hello all. I tried to start SBD on Sunday. Then my son came home with a valentine for me and I felt guilty not taking it because he spent his money on the cookie for me. So that blew that day and then yesterday, I was hit hard for chocolate cravings for you know what, ladies, and today, my husband tells me he wants me to send him some cookies I make. He is in Afganistan and does not ask me for much. So I have been testing each batch to make sure they are just right for him, and a taste led to a cookie, which led to three more. However, I got a new set of scales today so it will be easier to track my progress once I can really get started. I am determined to do this tomorrow. Anyone have tips on how to resist cravings during that time, if you know what I mean, and how not to "test" when baking for someone else. And how to avoid eating the junk when depressed or angry too. I really want this to work. I weighed today and I am at 216.4 I really want to be under 200 by the time my husband comes home in May. I just really need some help. I have told my son what I am doing, so he will not get his feelings hurt when he brings home a sucker or something for me. I have bought all the food for the first two weeks. I just have some left over junk that I hate to just throw away, especially since my son can eat it. Can't really afford to just throw food away. How do you resist temptations and when in the first two weeks do the cravings start to deminish? Sorry for the long post. thanks for listening.Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Guest guest
I think you just said how you resist it. You have to want it bad enough. Think about what would make you happier, that cookie, or what you see on the scale in the morning. Do you want chocolate, or do you want to surprise the hubby when he gets home? You really can afford to throw things away if it means being easier for you. If it's something for just your son, have him hide it in his room. It's either your good health or those other things. I really don't give my kids much "goodies" anymore. They have learned to eat the same as I do. when I do give them something they either eat it when i give it to them or hide in their rooms (if it's something I have a real weakness for). They have been informed that if I see it, I'm throwing it out. But they are my big supporters so they understand. You say your son knows and understands, too. If you really want this, do it. You really can. Think of how you will look when hubby comes home. Go out and get a nice outfit a couple of sizes too small and make sure you can get into it for his homecoming or something. I think everyone needs a good reason to do this. For me, I wanted to make my old boyfriend eat his heart out. LOL Post your meals you have here every day, and then you will be accountable. That might also help. We are all behind you. Carol back to the beginning.... Hello all. I tried to start SBD on Sunday. Guest guest
Carol- this is great advice! I think for me- I had to sit myself down and say " STOP MAKING EXCUSES!! " - There will always be holidays, special treats, etc- you have to learn to deal with them or like Carol said- get them out of the house. My son is always bringing treats home from school to share and I used to say - oh thank you honey- i'm going to save this later so I can cherish it a little longer. But now- he knows that I don't eat stuff like that anymore- so he still asks but is fine when I say " no thanks, how about a hug instead. " For Carol- it was an old boyfriend, for you- your hubby is coming home, for me- my 20 yr high school reunion in Oct. 20 years- ugh margi > I think you just said how you resist it.
