Guest guest
We use " Miralax " . It is a prescription for constipation. Nothing had EVER worked for , until Miralax. Suppositories on a daily basis were our life, he had hemmroids so bad and we tryed all other over the counter and prescribed medication. You might research it or ask your DR. Guest guest
Thanks to those who offered advice. I do drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. I don't eat much fruit or veggies -- mostly protein and a few bites of veggies. I don't do too well yet with anything raw so I'm not getting much fiber from foods. I tried the flax o' meal cereal with 10 grams of fiber but that didn't help. I don't take any iron so I know it's not that. Does anyone know anything about the drug zelnorm? I see it advertised to help with Irritable Bowel with Constipation. I had heard lots of stories about how folks who had G/BP had problems with diarrhea not being constipated, so I never expected this to happen. Guest guest
Somedays I have a hard time too. I haven't had my surgery, but I am getting prepared for how life will be like after surgery. At first I brought a gallon jog of water and told myself I have to drink at least that during the day. Seeing that huge jug on my desk at work was hard and I had a difficult time drinking even half of it. So, what I did was buy 20 oz bottled water. I figure if I drink three of them during work I'm extremely close to drink a gallon of water. We basically have most of the air conditioning off at work because (all the thin people) are cold all the time. So they close the vents. The number of overweight people in our department are 6 and the rest of us have to bring in fans to keep cooler. So, for me it's become extremely easy to drink all that water because I am constantly thirsty. Today, I have drank at least 4 - 20 oz waters, 2 - 20 oz watered down Crystal Light Pink Lemonade and one protein shake. I feel like Orca the whale! But I am drinking my water. Eileen Re: Constipation , how far out are you? I'm 6 weeks post op myself and having a terrible time getting my water in. I'd like to know how you manage to get 8-10 glasses in! Given that I'm not supposed to drink 30 min prior to a meal, the 30 min of the meal, and 30 min after the meal, that's 4 1/2 hours right there. I usually have a snack or a protein shake sometime in the day, so that adds at least another 90 min where I can't drink...other than getting up in the middle of the night, I can't seem to figure out how to get all this water in by sip-sip-sipping in the time I have. What is working for you? Thanks for your help, Kelley RNY 5/12/04 374/328/175 cathysthecook wrote: > Thanks to those who offered advice. I do drink 8-10 glasses of water > a day.
