If you didn't mention that they automatically think you have an HMO that requires a referral. Do you have a written referral for a Rheumy and a Pulmonary doctor? If so, take it somewhere that has a fax machine an fax it to them. The only one I know of is Ginko's in Temecula.....on Winchester road. The gal you talked to might go by policy but you should call her back and ask why you have to have a referral when your insurance states you don't have to... that's the whole reason you pay more so you won't have to go through all of this.
