Guest guest Posted May 20, 2002 Report Share Posted May 20, 2002 I am one of the chiarians whose “trauma” was a nasty virus/flu that put me in bed for 10 days. I was weak, sleep 15 hours/day, only vomited once or twice, felt like my body weighed 500#’s and I just sunk into the mattress, flat as a pancake and slept. I was freezing cold, and couldn’t stand any light in the room. I slept with my pillow over my eyes. I had a dull headache and sometimes the room “spun.” I needed help to go to the bathroom. When I was “better” and could get out of bed, I was extremely weak. Incredibly weak and wobbly and off-balance. Then I added an unattractive startle-response “jerk” to sounds or anything than confused me mentally or visually. My body jerked from the waist to the neck, giving me a whiplash feeling. That has now abated (after one year) and I’m functioning pretty well. Still off balance but very capable of working, etc. Just wanted you to know the trauma can be viral as well as physical.
