Guest guest
Sharon, Thank you for the hope! Thor is still drinking plenty of water. Today we started him on the food the vet recommends. We'll watch him closely for changes. Has Buff had to have IV fluids? Vet says that would be the next step, & we're not sure how much we want to put Thor through just to keep him alive for us. He still jumps onto the bed & purrs & seems to enjoy life, so we're hoping for a long time with him. Re: Thor the cat We have a cat that has renal failure(Buff) and he has lived over a year with it. Don't give up hope! Re: Thor the cat , I " m so sorry to hear about Thor's illness! I know you will make these last days good for him. He is a very lucky kitty to have had such a loving home. He's been looking a little " off " lately; lost a little weight (5 lbs is his normal weight). He had a blood test yesterday; he has kidney failure. We found it early, so hopefully we'll have him a little while longer. Yahoo! Terms of Service. Guest guest
Oh - It doesn't matter what you've known, it still hits hard. I'm so sorry. Listen to your heart and to Thor about how long to take it. I know you've gone through this before, but it sure deosn't make it any easier. Hugs,
Guest guest
{{{{{{{{}}}}}} I'm sorry you have to go through this. That's the worst part of having pets, is the letting go. Give Thor a kiss for me. I hope you don't flare, so please rest a lot! x0x0x0x0x0 Shirleysarah wrote: Remember how we were just talking about cats living forever? & how the vet said Thor's too mean to die? He'll be on special food for now. The next step in treatment would be IV fluids to flush out his kidneys; we haven't decided whether we'll go that far. It will depend on his attitude & how often he'll need the IV's. We've known for his whole 13 year life that he could leave us anytime because of his health problems, but for some reason this has really hit me hard. Just needed to share. Guest guest
Shirley & everyone, Thank you! Thor seems so normal that it's hard to realize how sick he is. He's eating, drinking, peeing, purring - all the important things. His blood tests look like he's close to death; his behavior looks like he has a long time left. He's happy - that's what counts.
