Guest guest
Dearest God of heaven and creator of Earth, We are frightened, angry, saddened and hurt. We lift the victims of this disaster up to you for eternal comfort. We pray that the families, friends and rescuers of this victims open their hearts to you and let your glory, comfort and peace engulf them. Help them and us to fight off Satan's negativity and to not allow hearts to turn black with hatred and anger. We must not forget all that you are, dear Lord; Jehovah-jirah (the Lord will provide), Jehovah-shalom (the Lord our peace), and Jehovah-shamah (the Lord is there). Let us take comfort in the fact, that admist this tragedy, you ARE there; and let us as Christians carry that message so that all may take comfort. In Jesus Christ we pray, AMEN God Bless, Duncan krisinjuly@... Georgia State Representative Pancreatitis Association, Intl.
Guest guest
Dear , That was a lovely prayer - I thank you for sending it to the list and sharing your prayer with the rest of us - seems to grow in power exponentially that way, I believe. Because of the location and particular demographics of this list, I assume that the majority of the members are of the Christian faith. Of course, there are many other faiths, in this country and around the globe, and I thought that since the events of the last few days have effected all of us on a global scale, it would be a good idea to post a short list of some of the other faiths being practiced worldwide; I hope that we all share a similar prayer as 's, regardless of the words we use or the land from which we come. I pray at this particularly painful time that we might come together not only as a nation, but as a world of believers in a Power greater than ourselves, a Power that is good and holy, loves us all equally. Religions of the World can be grouped into three families. Contemporary liberation movements are also spiritual sources for many people. Primal religions include those of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome, the Maya, Inca and Germanic folk religions, and living religions of American Indians, tribal Africans, Australian aborigines and today's neo-pagans or Wiccans. In general, primal religions locate the sacred in the world of nature. Asian faiths include Confucianism and Taoism, Hinduism and Buddhism and Shinto (really a nature tradition). Although developed within Islam, Sufism has characteristics of this family. In general, Asian religions locate the sacred in the realm of consciousness. Monotheistic traditions include Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Many would also include Sikhism, Baha'i, Unitarian Universalism, Zoroastrianism, and American civil religion in this family. In general, monotheistic religions find the sacred revealed in the history of covenanted community. Liberation movements include environmental work, peace efforts, racial healing, women's and men's explorations, communal experiments, 12-step programs, and gay liberation. These can be manifestations of fresh understandings of the sacred. Bless and keep each of us at this time, and bring us together in love and peace, Terry in KC << Dearest God of heaven and creator of Earth, We are frightened, angry, saddened and hurt.
