Dawn, I hope your helicopter is in a safe place. The pictures I just saw of an airport somewhere on the Western part of the state had the little planes stacked up on top of each other and basically the hangars all destroyed.

Please becareful and don't take any chances...the little tornadoes spinning off this hurricane are numerous and one of the reports I just saw had a lady call in and said that all the houses on her street had lost their roofs. The winds are still over 100 mph and hasn't weakened as much as they thought it would yet.

I hope your home doesn't sustain damage and that you and Warwick stay safe. Take a deck of cards with you to the basement and if you are going to use candles so you can see, make sure you are well ventilated.

I think they are predicting that after the storm exits Daytona it will go back out in the Atlantic and then start building strength again. I just hope if it comes ashore in NC or SC, it will not do the damage that several have it recent years. Jim and I leave Tuesday for NC and will be at my Mom's for a week, back to GA for a week, and then on to Hot Springs, AK.

Take care of yourself tonight and this weekend. I'll saw a prayer for you and your hubby.

Hugs,

Jane

nasty weather

hope everyone is ok! Especially jane & christy tonight.....well, i guess christy won't see so much until tomorrow maybe. the full force of the winds will be going through here around midnight i think. luckly the eye is supposed to go through the next county over from us....earlier when they thought it was going to hit land around tampa they thought we were really going to get nailed. shiould be only around 50 to 60 mile per hr winds instead of like 80. now if we can just manage to avoid the tornadoes. we already had one about fifteen minutes away this afternoon. we have the half basement all stocked up & are staying down there except for using the bathroom. sneaky suspicion we will lose power for quite some time so i wanted to say hi & hope everyone is ok. talk to y'all when its over. be careful all y'all southerners.

I was just watching the news tonight and a bunch of the military jets and planes at some base in NC have temporarily moved to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City to wait out the storms. They must think it might get bad enough to move the planes, or they just want them available asap.

Warwick's helicopter is in a hanger. The forestry guys were nice enough to share theirs. Luckily Ocala where it is did not get much wind. Probably about 30mph I think. I think the images of the planes you are seeing might be the small regional airport near Orlando...I saw that on tv a minute ago. Now I am waiting until daybreak to call my Aunt Betty. She lives in New Smyrna Beach which was, from what I saw when I went to bed, right in the path. The news has not mentioned that area yet except to say that it hit hard. I reallly can't believe we have power. Everyone around us is out of it.

When I went to bed at midnight it looked like the storm was going to head off the eastern coast, pick up spead & hit the carolina's. Our news has not yet mentioned it. My dad up north said that last he heard when he woke up this am it was hitting SC.

I think so...there were so many towns that I have not heard of down here. I think St. pete was hit but Tampa just got a bit of a normalish storm. LOL...am I the only one amused that when I just checked our weather they said there was a flood alert....Extending easward from..,.get this....Yeehaw Juntion!!! Does that sound like someone made up the name at the weather station or what??? lol. Anyways, I have to say that if I wanted to move to Florida & live on the Ocean Tampa would be where I'd move. I was watching some of the history of their weather on tv last night. They say that though the threat of hurricanes hitting Tampa is frequent it almost always turns before it gets there. I think they said it had been like fifty years since they had had a direct hit. Fort Meyers & places like that manage to catch the systems more & of course they just love to meander up the coast to hit the Carolina's. The last time a storm like this hit Orlando was 1955 I beleive

they said. I hope this year is not bad, they are predicting a lot of storms.
