>>For those of you who have had the surgery and been thru liquid and pureed and

Yes! I am amazed at watching people (especially my dh) and thinking about how

much I could use to pack away. YIKES! But I just remind myself that that food is

not worth the 80 pounds I've lost so far. :)

It is mind blowing how much we as Americans eat. I am pre-op but am going to a

nutritionist to loose some weight before the surgery so I am becoming more and

more aware of what I eat. The amounts that I have eaten in the past are

astronomical. I am ashamed of the amount of food I have put into my body. But

that is all about to change. I don't think that we even pay attention to how

much we put into our bodies.

That is just another point in the fact that preparing for and having this

surgery is a life changing experience.

I hate to say it, but I'm the same way in public now. My husband has to

tell me to shut up about it, we talk about it so much. It's amazing to

me...We went to Golden Corral for lunch on Saturday and had the

buffet..I had about 2 bites of meat loaf (yuck) and 1/2 of a

hamburger...while I saw this other lady who was bigger (than me! I've

never had that happen!) who I saw go up to the buffet 5 different times,

then go back for dessert (a piece of pie, some banana pudding and

chocolate cake!). I was looking at my husband like, 'can you believe

that!' with my eyebrows raised and he said, " Don't forget, you used to

do that too! " Which brought me to Earth real fast! It amazes me though.

I too have always and am always the biggest person in the room. And I know that

people look at me and watch what I am eating. It isn't fair, but that is the

fact of life. But you have to keep in mind that it was you not long ago. These

people just are not as informed as you are and may not know that there is a tool

available to them to help them out. Be proud of yourself, but be careful not to

become one of the people who have hurt your feelings in the past by watching and

talking about you. I think that is something that everyone who loses a bunch of

weight will struggle with at some point or another. It is just like people who

smoke. Reformed smokers are much worse about telling people how bad it is and

those who have never smoked.
