Guest guest
When did you start the nut yogurt? Yogurt can trigger new rounds of die-off. It's hard to believe there would be any gut pathogens left down there at this point but I know others have reported die-off symptoms. This craving thing almost sounds more like what kids experience at the very beginning of SCD, when the yeast and bacteria are driving them to seek out illegals so they can survive. Have you been giving him acidophilus supplements all this time prior to starting the yogurt? Patti, mom to Katera, SCD 15 months Re: Trying to Steal Illegal Food Hi, My son has been on a special diet(GFCF) 3 years and SCD almost 1 year. He is 11 years old. The last 2 days my son has been searching for and grabbing illegal foods to the point we have to follow him around the house. We have never had to do this. Last week my husband said he had gotten a dried fig and my son had difficulty falling asleep that night. We are amazed. He is up to 4 teaspoons of hazelnut yogurt per day. What are these cravings and does it stop? My son is also off fruit and honey. Thanks Theresa
Guest guest
Patti, This is the second time we started nut yogurt. the first time was in the spring, April/May. At that time he was also taking Custom probiotics L. Acidophilus in the morning and evening. It was too much for him. He started these weird eye stims and behavior got worse. I stopped the nut yogurt and the eye stims went away. Recently we started giving him the nut yogurt again on July 7th, but stopped the CP Acidophilus all together. We started at a small dose, 1/8 teaspoon every other day and gradually increased. He is up to 4 teaspoons a day. Just over the weekend we started giving him yogurt every day. Each day I increase the dose by 1 teaspoon. Today he will be getting 5 teaspoons. It would not surprise me if this is die off. I just have a gut feeling(no pun intended) that he always has stuff growing in his intestines. Recently his stool has become dark in color. I've read on this list that light stools mean that yeast is present. His Dr. is always asking about his stool color. She says light stool means he isn't breaking down or digesting all the fat he eats. I don't know what to think anymore. Just now I caught him with a green grape in his hand looking at it. I took it away and asked him where he got it. He said the freezer or frigerator. Theresa Re: Trying to Steal Illegal Food Hi, My son has been on a special diet(GFCF) 3 years and SCD almost 1 year. Guest guest
" Recently we started giving him the nut yogurt again on July 7th, but stopped the CP Acidophilus all together " We did almost the same thing. I have a feeling sometimes that the CPacidophilus is either rather aggressive (causing major die off) or just not agreeable with some kids. " His Dr. is always asking about his stool color. She says light stool means he isn't breaking down or digesting all the fat he eats. I don't know what to think anymore " Depending just a bit on what he eats, I'd say that darkish, formed stool with the right kind of smell (you'll know it when you smell it) is the thing to work hard for. Guest guest
" I thought low carbing it for three years would have taken care of > all of that beforehand! Wow. " Low carb diets allow things that are not allowed on SCD. Lactose, starches, grains, etc. Maybe not in large amounts if you are super low carb, but in large enough amounts for the bacteria and yeast in the colon to feed on.
