Guest guest
Zanna ****The only reason I have been putting off the IVIg is because of the fact that it does come from human blood pools.**** Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) is a blood product made from pooled antibodies taken from normal blood donors. The IVIG is put through multiple complex purification and sterilization steps in order to assure the absence of contaminating particles or infectious agents. Tested for Hep A, B and C and HIV. As a result, IVIG is very safe, but also relatively expensive. ****They get part of it from mice or rats too,**** I have not found this on any site where IVIg is received from mice or rats. ****I think.....the Cytoxin is sythetic which I know doesn't make it any safer but I would rather go with that. **** Here's a site you need to read: click here ****I found something one time that said that if you have had allergic reactions to similiar drugs, the chances of having one with this are greater.**** Which drug are you referring to and comparing it to? ****All I could think of was the reaction I had to remicade. I don't know if they are similiar or not, just that they are both IV procedures....**** Ok, this answered my question on what drug you're comparing it to but are you comparing the IVIg or the Cytoxan to Remicade. Either way, Remicade is totally different from IVIg and Cytoxan. ~~~ TWO CENTS TIME ~~~~ Now let me take a minute to put in my two cents, for what it's worth. The IVIg will add to your immune system to help fight off the bad guys. Obviously that's something you need. The Cytoxan will take away, in other words, lower your immune system because it's killing cells, good and bad cells. Now, this is only my humble opinion so don't hate me. If I were you, which I'm not, I would go for the IVIg simply because you can't sit still. When you're on these immunosuppressant drugs you still do all the things that normal people do. You go to Wal-mart (crowds), shopping (crowds), Home Depot (crowds), around kids (GERMS :~{ I know, can't get rid of the kids), the SWAP meet (Big crowds) ....etc, etc... You tend to go where the crowds are and that's not good. These are all the things and places they tell you to avoid mainly because your system is wide open to everything. Because of that, I feel you should take the IVIg and not the Cytoxan. That way, you'll be able to do the things you want to do and maybe not get as sick as you have been. Does any of this make sense? Take care, Vicki
