Guest guest
Hi K! Welcome! I had my SU resected in 99 after I lost my first pg due to a blighted ovum. I now have 2 kids :-) In a message dated 3/28/2004 9:41:55 AM Central Standard Time, tkleitch@... writes: > 1) Did you find that having your SU resected improved your > fertility? Never had a problem with that, so can't tell. I've been pg 4 times, took between 2 and 4 months every time. The first pg was before I found out about my SU. > > 2) How long did your dr. say you should wait to ttc after the > resection? Was the same before and after. > > 4) Did you have any other complications during ttc or preg? Nothing related to the SU or surgery. I had both kids vaginally at 38 weeks, and they're doing great. I had one m/c between my 2 kids, but that was just " one of those things " , can happen to any woman unfortunately. Wishing you a speedy recovery Heike SU resected, mommy to (3) and Fiona (my Tax Day baby, almost 1!) > >
Guest guest
Hi, K! I´m also new to this board. I have been diagnosed recently as an SU and will be having surgery to resect in May. I too have never been pregnant, never a positive beta or hpt, despite almost 3 years of trying. I can only provide input on your first question about whether resection can improve fertility. According to my RE and his associates, they have had 5 patients who came to them for infertility and inability to get pregnant and, other than having SU, had no identifiable factors for their infertility. Each went through resection and each achieved pregnancy soon thereafter. There are other members on this board that believe that an SU can prevent an embryo from implanting (so therefore, removal could positively impact implantation). Look at the message I posted on 3/17/2004 where I asked about fertility and read the responses. There is a response from a member who got pregnant the very first cycle they ttc´d after the resection, after a year and a half of trying without success before the resection! Definitely most of the literature I have read indicates that an SU shouldn´t significantly impact the ability to get pregnant in the first place, but there appear to be some cases where it seems to be a big factor if not the only factor. Hope you feel better soon! SU to be resected in May
Guest guest
K, I had my septum resected in December of 2002. I just had my daughter 6 weeks ago. I'll answer your questions as best as I can below. > 1) Did you find that having your SU resected improved your > fertility? > (I have been ttc for about a yr and have no other apparent problem, > but my dr. says a SU shouldn't affect fertility) From what I learned a SU has nothing to do with getting pregnant. I had a few problems but still managed to get pregnant. I have PCOS, ULFS, and my husband's sperm was a little low in motility. I got pregnant using, clomid, progesterone, and doing IUI's so the motility was not an issue. > > 2) How long did your dr. say you should wait to ttc after the > resection? (mine said I could ttc the next cycle) I started trying in February after my mid-december resection > > 3) Did the resection help cramping and reduce flow during Aunt Flow? I never really had cramping or heavy periods before so I couldn't tell you. 4) Did you have any other complications during ttc or preg? No, once they figured out my fertility issues I got pregnant with Madison. > I hope I helped some and good luck. I hope you have great news soon! The soreness will go away soon. I wasn't sore long after surgery, maybe 4 days tops. Joann SU Resected Mommy to Madison 2/16/
Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the board! Congratulations on having your septum resected! I had mine resected in November 2004. By the way, make sure you ask for a followup HSG or SHG to make sure the septum is totally gone. My RE said he never does followup, but for my own peace of mind I wanted to see for myself that the septum was gone. I had an SHG last month that showed no septum. Yay! To answer your questions: > 1) Did you find that having your SU resected improved your > fertility? No, this was never a problem for me. I had 4 m/c before having the septum resection surgery. > 2) How long did your dr. say you should wait to ttc after the > resection? (mine said I could ttc the next cycle). My doctor said to wait 3 cycles. This seems long compared to what most other women on this board have been told. > 3) Did the resection help cramping and reduce flow during Aunt Flow? Seems pretty much the same as before the surgery. Not terrible. > 4) Did you have any other complications during ttc or preg? Not yet! Good luck to you, Ronna
Guest guest
Thanks very much to all of you who responded to my previous e-mail. It sounds like a lot of positive stories, which is great! An update on me, I had a follow-up hysteroscopy on 4/12 and they had to remove some more of the septum, this time it really hurt because of no anesthesia! Hopefully, I am all fixed up now and will ttc. Thanks again for your well-wishes. > Hello, > > I am new to the board (this is actually my first posting on any board > on the internet).
