My little girl was 5 lbs 7 oz (she was three weeks preemie), and she has

been fed nothing but breastmilk and is now 10lbs at 6 weeks. SHe definitely

is a healthy little angel...

My littlest nursling is a big girl too! STRICTLY BREASTMILK!!! She

weighed in at a whopping 17 lbs at 14 weeks of age (25 inches) !! She is 15

weeks now. Daddy calls her chubber wubbers!! She is definitely round! I

love every chubby fold!!! Our pediatrician isn't surprised either !

LOL, ! Ford was 8 lbs 5 ozs at birth - on his due date! Good for

him! What gets me is when someone says that I need to feed him cereal -

like he needs it! Steriods! Ha! OT but some athletes take bovine

colostrum instead of steriods.

during delivery or after w/you or her? I hope you don't mind me asking!

She had low blood sugar, but other than that she was perfect. I was fine

Its important to remember that babies are born with a wide range of weights.

My 2nd baby, my first son, was born weighing 6 4 and had doubled his weight

by 4 months. My 3rd baby, 2nd son, was born weighing 6 13 and was at 7 weeks

was 11 3. My babies are by no means big babies. My daughter at 4 is the

smallest in her preK class. My 17 month old (still nursing) was 21 pounds at

15 months which means he had more than tripled his birth weight, but was

still about as big as your baby now. It is easiest to chart how much they

have gained and not what they weigh. I have a friend whose 2 yo (nursing)

weighs about 25 pounds. ANyway, congrats to Corey on doubling his birth

weight!!! Oh, and did you have a hard time delivering such a big baby, lol?

It should be. If you saw my last reply to this then you can see my

subsequent pushing stages only lasted a mere minutes, although they were hard

minutes. After the first time, you kinda now better how to push and your body

has " adjusted " since the first time.

I'm in the big baby club too! My Corey is 4 months today (17 weeks) and

over 20 lbs! We had to switch to a convertible car seat last week. I've

had several women come up and ask if I am breastfeeding. When I answer

" yes, exclusively " , they nod and say, that's why he's so big! I think this

is a little odd cause I know lots of bf babies who aren't above average

weight but hey, I'm not going to correct them! Oh, and he was 10 lbs at

birth so he's doubled his birth weight at 4 months. My friend's baby is the

same weight at 13 months!

And I agree, looking at the doubling/tripling of birthweight is much more

telling. There is just so much variety.

I have you beat. I pushed for 4 hours with my first, and he was only 9 lbs.

The second, my daughter, was 8-14, and I only pushed for half hour. Go figure

With Amber I pushed 1 hr 15min with an epidural in the beginning & with

Austin I pushed maybe, 10mins w/out one.

I pushed for about 20-30 mins with each baby. No epidurals, or pain meds.

My first I felt this overwhelming urge to push and don't remember feeling any

pain while pushing (except when they did my episiotomy...I don't think they

waited long enough for the local to set in....talk about OUCH...that scream

was primal)! My second, I decided that I had had enough and just pushed on

my own (no extreme urge, except that I wanted to be done!!) I didn't have an

episiotomy with my second and enjoyed the whole birth much more!

My first I pushed for 5 hours and he was born with the aid of forcepts and a

vacume. His shoulders got stuck. HE was only 9 lbs. My second I did not

even push. She was 7lbs 6oz My 3rd I pushed for an hour and the DR had to

pull her out because I hemmoraged and my blood pressure was almost gone.

She was 8lbs 7oz. was a section. He was a month early and weighed

8lbs 12oz(big premmie).

Mine was with an epadural FULL strength. I think alot of my problem was we

had NO idea when I was having a contraction the Dr took the monitor off (much

to the nurses dismay) and they were just guessing it was time to push.

Finally the Dr said to push the nurse said No shes not ahving a contraction

the Dr said Just push any way and OUT came . I think if I had been able

to feel ANYTHING it woudl have been alot faster but I think never time will

be faster anyway just cause it is a well worn path now with as the

trail blazer But no more epadurals for me thank you very much.

I have a thing to say about episiotomys I think they SUCk I thin k they are

totally unneeded and you shoudl have in your birth plan that you DO NOT under

any circomstance have one. My Dr explained it to me that when you cut a sheet

it makes it really easy to tear the rest of the sheet but without the first

cut it is HARD to rip. It is the same thing with our bodies. The Dr has no

idea ho much you will streach until you ahve done it and as for it being

easier for them to sew up well SO WAHT its not any easier to heal so why are

we putting ourselves through that pain for them to have an easy sew up job

when WELL over half of the women who GET them wouldn't have even riped in the

first place.

My 2 1/2 hours of pushing was without an epidural or any other painkillers.

The doctor did give me a local something before he did the episiotomy

though. I have always wondered how long that takes to wear off. Probably

depends on the dosage of course but I think this prevented me from feeling

pain for many hours afterwards. That and the nifty ice packs. I loved

those so!

I totally agree. I had an episiotomy with my first. Didn't even know I

would. The doctor just cut me open with telling me first. I think he does

them routinely to everyone because my daughter was just 7 pounds and 10.5

ounces. I have not had another episiotomy. My 2nd child was born without

any tears, just " skid marks " at 6 pounds and 4 ounces. My 3rd was born with

out so much as a tear or scratch or anything at 6 pounds and 13 ounces. In

my opinion I only had skid marks with #2 because I was told to push and push

and push. With my third one I let my body do the pushing and breathed thru

the contrax until I couldn't stand it anymore, right about the time he

crowned. That is what nature intended to happen. Your uterus will push the

baby until you are stretched as far as possible then nature " makes " you push

AFTER you are stretched to keep you from tearing. When you push to fast, as

what often happens when nurses are " commanding " you to push as hard as

possible, you don't give your body enough time to stretch as far as necessary

before the baby is coming out. I know how hard it is ti wait to push, but I

also know that after I had my third (born at home) I was able to get up and

go to the bathroom. I was able to walk around and didn't even feel like I

had just had a baby. Our bath was wonderful as well. The midwife made us an

herbal bath and we took several minutes alone in the tub right after his

birth. It was heaven. He loves baths to this day. Well, sorry for getting

off subject again, lol. I do tend to bable sometimes:)
