Never claimed to be an average Joe............lol GOMER may not be a NICE nickname..but I EARNED IT, the ahrd way. I ahd to get a Drs excuse to get in the Navy, while many were fleeing to Canada etc, late 60s. I was written up for Captains Mast once in the Navy, uppon being admitted to the base hospital in ville Fla. for criminal vioation of UCMJ, " failure to seek medical treatment " . I rquested my sick bay records for the previous 10 days showing I ahd been kicked out over nad over. I had a car and a fellow stident at AE-A school wanted to hit the beach. I decided it was better than lying in the barracks. I felt so bad I decided to go back to sick bay even if it ment being kicked out yet again. the doc saw me waiting outside his dooor, waiting for sick call. He came out, grabbed me by the shirt and walked me down to Xray saying, he was gonna " PROVE " there was nothing wrong with me. Then he summoned the ambulance (meat-wagon) and off to the hospital I was taken. Thanks all.....
