Dorothy,

What an interesting job you must have! Actually, I have not been tested for

the gene HLA B27. My sis and daughter have. My sis does have it, but we

haven't gotten the results back on Nikki yet. Her appt was a couple of weeks

ago. I'm going to call the rheumy tomorrow and see if they have the results

and if they do, tell them to mail them to me. I have an appt with the

rheumy in 2 weeks and I'm going to ask her to test me for the gene HLA B27,

although I'm relatively sure I don't have ankylosing spondylitis. You can

have the gene and not have AS, but 97% of people with AS have the gene HLA

B27, so if you do not have the gene, it's unlikely that you have AS. Even

without knowing the results of the genetic test for my daughter, the rheumy

had written ankylosing spondylitis in Nikki's chart about a year ago. My

mom will see our rheumy for the first time in March and we are going to ask

that she be tested for the HLA B27 gene. I think she may very well have AS,

because my mom, sister, and daughter have a lot of similar problems. I will

take a look at your company's web site. Sounds fascinating.

Hope all is well with you. Thanks again for the info.

I do Data Entry for Taconic. I have learned a lot in the year that I have been there. They took us on a tour of the building next door to us to see just what goes on in a barrier. This is one of the buildings that you do not have to do anything special or wear special clothing etc, I asked a lot of questions and was amazed at the way things are done. Very interesting to say the least. Just last week they sold rats there were born in 2002 for an Alzheimer;s study, We were told the rats are worth buckoo dollars. Anyhow once you get in the company and you do what you are supposed to do and follow the pet policy you are there. They have fired people becuase of lack of following the rules and regulations or attendance, That is the big thing--There are people that have been there for 28-30 years. The business started in a man;s garage and he wanted to expand and he did and they are still expanding. They are fixing to open a new facility sometime this year in Indianna. They have a location in Oxnard CA, Rockville MD and Denmark as well as our Germantown and Albany (Rensselear) site which is where some of the testing is done, There are a couple of other companies that are in the same type business but their mice and rats are not a high of a quality as ours is.Take care and yes please look at the site and the mice as I am sure you will learn something from the site.

Take care

Dorothy
