Robin, hon, have you ever tried methotrexate for the arthritis?

It works great for mine. Also, over the years, I've learned to

tell the difference between hunger pangs induced by pred, and the

'real thing'. I cope with the pred munchies by eating lots of

green-and-growing . . . sometimes swears we should just

become a lettuce, celery and broccoli wholesaler given how much I

eat of them. :)

I'm not familiar with Australian real estate law / contracts;

but, here in the US, you can include a completion clause [or a

'time is of the essence' clause]. Because there are financial

penalties for breaking these, it really motivates the builder to

get a move on. I hope this works out for you; I can't imagine

sharing my house with one of my brothers for any length of time

at all. [Well, actually, I CAN; which is the problem. ;>]

Dear

Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, I've tried methotrexate. It didn't really work for me and it sent my liver functions sky high. I'm now on Arava instead. I also take Myfortic as well as the Arava and prednisone for the arthritis AI symptoms. However, and I assume it is as a result of all the tension with the selling and building houses situation along with my daughter's recent marriage break-up, the arthritis is flaring again. I find that by upping the prednisone for short periods of time this helps keep the arthritis manageable under these circumstances. Fortunately I have a great specialist team who agree with me monitoring my own medication levels when I need to. I find that by being really aware of what is happening in my body all the time that I can keep the medications to a miniumum because I don't take long courses of high doseages. I try to cut back as soon as my body tells me it is able to do so.

Yes, we have contracts for completion of building in Australia. The contract actually states 23 weeks but we are hoping the builders can do it quicker than that and they are promising to endeavour to do this so that we don't have to share accommodation with my daughter and kids for too long. But an added complication is that over the Christmas holidays in Australia businesses close down for 3 - 4 weeks and this is going to add to our timeframe. Ugg!

We probably both mentioned it, and probably others did too.

Hope it turns out OK for you, and something easily managed.

Robin, I appreciate the feedback and agree with you that there is a great probability that this could be prednisone related or induced. Thanks for throwing this into the mesh. I guess they need to rule out the circulation first but I will definately keep the neurology consult in mind. In fact now that I think of it, I think Owens or Kathy may have mentioned this at one time. Hopefully the correct blood work has been ordered, because like you, it took a tech almost 30 minutes to get enough blood out of me yesterday in my hand. I would be most delighted if the simple answer is "you need more exercise", which after my right knee is replaced, should be possible. You and your hubby will be in my prayers as you begin the adventure of constructing your home together. I will enjoy reading your journals as you are able to send them. Thanks again for the input.
